Directions to venue

Jolie, on November 8, 2018 at 10:43 AM Posted in Planning 0 8

Help!! I am terrible at directions. How would I go about listing directions to the venue from different directions/areas (like people coming from the east or near said highway, etc)? I cannot just come up with these on my own. Isn't there a site I can use? I do not need a physical map just the driving directions essentially.

If I were in your shoes, I would just go on to Google. Pick a metropolitan area or city in whichever direction and use those directions. Like, "If you're coming from points south like Richmond, take I-95 north toward D.C. and New York." That sort of thing.

You could also ask your venue or look on their website. They might have more concise directions that they use for events that they could share with you, especially if your venue is a little trickier to find or out in the countryside.

Gotcha! That's helpful. Yes I will check with the venue also. Thanks!

I think if you just include the full address somewhere (on a details card or the website, etc.), most guests will just use GPS (unless you're in a remote location without any coverage or there is an unusual access to the venue). I think on the website daughter mentioned that the venue is in South Orange County when she talked about possible airport options, but just left it to the guests to figure out their directions.

I just put the address on my invitation. Everyone has smart phones, GPS in their vehicles, etc. I don't think it is necessary any longer to provide directions unless there is something unexpected about your venue / location.

Can you email your venue & ask? Or just turn what Google Maps says into sentences?

I am probably thinking ahead cuz our venue does not open til this month so maybe they will eventually put the directions on there. And yeah seems like the easiest to turn the google maps directions into sentences! I was messing around with my wedding website that's why this all came about! Thanks FutureMrsD!

I don't know if it is still a thing but I feel like MapQuest used to offer fairly detailed directions! But I do also agree that people should be okay if you just give them the address.
