Difference between petite and regular wedding dress

Anna, on June 19, 2019 at 8:15 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18
I am 5'3 and half. I am planning on wearing 2 inch heels, maybe 3. I just found out today that my dress comes in petite size. Should i go and exchange it for a petite size? My dress fits me perfect but it's just too long. Plus I LOVE the detail in the dress and dont want to lose it.
Will it be too short? Any advice will help.

No do not do that. The length is not what makes it petite, petite is about proportions. The proportion of your torso length at the ribs, waist and hips. If your current dress fits you correctly, just get it gemmed. If you need petite then it would be like the shape hit you too low because the torso of the gown is too long. At 5’3” in many cases you are not considered petite, but definitely depends on the brand and your body shape.

I’m 4’11” and I can’t wear anything petite because the proportions aren’t right. I bought a normal dress and had it hemmed.

If it fits perfect. But to line Petite would be to tight and to loJG you would have to let it out.

It won’t be sorted. Petite is skinnier.

Petite actually means for a shorter person. It may be somewhat smaller than a regular, but it will definitely be shorter.

In the fashion world petite actually means shorter.
Im a size one or an extra small.
    I'm 5'4"
Petite clothing is too big for me.
    Although the length is fine.
I'd say try one on and see what the difference isSmiley smile

I'm 4'9 and I asked the consultant how much shorter the dresses are and she told me they are only 5 to 6 inches shorter.

This makes complete sense. I never wear petite clothing. But I really want to save money so I thought petite was length wise. Thanks for letting me know. I rather spend the extra money.

You really have to look at the measurements. If the regular size fit you well in the torso/arms/chest and you're wearing heels, you probably don't want the petite size. I'm 5'3" and it always depends on the garment. In dresses, no. In pants, petite is great for me. In tops, not so much, my torso is longer. The design of the piece is altered to suit the proportions (height and otherwise) of a shorter person (usually under 5'4").

Does the website list the length and proportions of a regular and a petite? I'm 5'2'' and sometimes petite helps with the total length, but sometimes it just makes the waist higher or makes it tighter under the arms. It's probably worth trying on, but I would do that before making an exchange

My dress is a trumpet and the regular size hit right above my knee which was a bit low. I ordered the petite and that one hits fingertip length which is where it's supposed to be. Ordering a petite in my case was the right decision otherwise I would be paying a lot to have the hem raised on the skirt.

I ordered my dress in a petite. It is a trumpet. The regular has the trumpet hitting way too low on me whereas the petite had the line hitting in just the right spot.
