Hey all! I haven't posted in a while due to college but my semester's over (now I will just be student teaching in the spring!) Glad to be back!

Anyhow, during the past few months a number of my friends have gotten engaged. Just about every ring is at least a carat if not more. My one friend has sixty some smaller diamonds around her band to boot. My main diamond is a half carat and the smaller diamonds in the band come to .25 carat. But for some reason I'm beginning to feel like I missed the memo that no one gets that size of a diamond anymore. My FH and I were at my one engaged friend's house who has a huge diamond and all of her friends wanted to try on her ring and asked her about her wedding plans. FH and I tried to chime in but no one even wanted to see my ring and no one seemed to care about anything we said.

I'm debating on whether to get an upgraded diamond in the future. Because FH and I still need to graduate from college this year, I definitely can't condone upgrading

Well atleast you shopped for your own ring. Mine was a surprise and I don't even think its a real diamond and if you look very closely the ring looks like it was hand made. But the way he gave me the ring was amazing to me!!! We were also in a long distance relationship and he lived in a poor country where they don't even have the custom of getting engagement rings and if they give an ering its really a wedding band with no rock. When I first looked at my ring I worked in the fashion industry and was a bit embarrassed. But, after 2 yrs I love the story of how I got my ring and what my fiance went thru in order to save for it and it will be wonderful to show our children. I especially think its a great ring to keep us grounded. When we have started our family and are doing much better financially, this ring will remind us of who we are since the beginning.
