Did you love or hate the Blue Tuxedos your groom/groomsmen wore? (Not navy blue)

Hillary, on March 16, 2016 at 2:45 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 12

Hi. I'm really loving the slate blue tuxedos I've been seeing on some of the groomsmen men on Pinterest/Insta. Has anyone seen them in a wedding they went to? What were your thoughts? Just to clarify, I'm not interested in Navy. Looking at slate blue/gray blue/dusty blue.

I've seen the slate blue Jim's Formalwear Tux and the Allure Tux in the store. They both seemed much more dull in real life compared to pics but, I prob should have gone outside to get a better idea. The Jim's Formalwear was a little brighter than Allure. Can you recommend a brand?

Thank you!

FH tried on the slate blue jim's formalwear version. He said it was SUPER itchy, and honestly I thought it was really ill fitting and boxy on in spite of claiming to be slim fit. The shoulder pads in the jacket are ABSURD. I'd avoid it like the plague.

He's going with a tailored slate blue suit from nordstrom.

We decided to buy FH suit. I really wanted him in blue, and his guys in gray. I also wanted it to actually fit him. We've been to so many weddings where the groom is in an ill fitting suit because he rented. And I feel that if I'm in a custom fitted outfit, he should be too. Smiley smile We went to Macy's and got a Tommy suit (jacket, vest and pants) for $260. His guys will be in the same suit (in gray) and they got them for $220 (no vest). To me, it's a really good deal... Most nice suits/tux rentals are $180 and up in our area! Why not spend a little more for a better fitting suit you actually get to keep!

Following! FH wants to wear a grayish blue tuxedo (well he wants to have it made because he thinks he's weirdly proportioned - also just annoying that he's 6'1" with a 31" waist), and I was thinking of putting the Man of Honor and the Best Man in a more true grey (much like Kelly!). But my color is red so I'm not really sure if there's a good way to incorporate that at all without looking nautical...

I'm in love with my groom's suit. He picked it out and wouldn't try on any other colors. The groomsmen will be wearing a grey suit. The two suits next to eachother look so sharp!!

We are doing the allure slate blue suits. I wanted navy but he didn't want to ask his friends to buy suits so this was the closest we could get. Here is a picture from the first day we looked at them. I still prefer navy but everyone else thinks the slate is really pretty and nice for summer- so that's what we are going with!

In the sunlight it was much brighter.... There's a tailor out here who make custom suits starting at like $400. His was much more, but he wears suits to work, so he'll be wearing it again. Have you considered having one custom made?

Hubby wore a classic tux for wedding, but changed into something more fun for reception.

Thanks everyone! I too love the idea of him buying a custom blue suit but, he is dead set on renting Smiley sad He wouldn't really have anywhere else to wear it, so I see his point. He's pretty set on a tux over a suit too so, I'm glad to learn that the Allure I spoke of is recommended and that the Jim's formalwear was uncomfortable. Thank you again for your comments and pics. We are officially sold on blue for the guys!!

If only I could get FH to the tux guy to order it! This is starting to stress me out as the next couple of weekends are spoken for. I swear, men are so bad at multitasking...
