Did you lose weight before your wedding?

mrswinteriscoming, on February 11, 2021 at 6:09 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 15

I've always fluctuated with my weight and unfortunately despite being very happy with my body when I got engaged in December 2019, COVID 19 + losing my job resulted in gaining 10-15kgs so I am now 10 months out from my wedding hoping to get back to a point I'm happy with.

I did but started before I was engaged. It was never something unneeded to do to be happy but I have always been an athlete and felt that I left myself get out of my comfort with how I looked.

Weight watchers worked well for me with moderate exercise. I find I never do well when it’s too restrictive and I still eat Doritos every night 🤷🏼‍♀️
Moral of the story is, you are going to be beautiful no matter what. If you want to try and lose a few before the wedding, great. If not, great. But at the end of the day you should know you will look gorgeous and happy

I grew up being athletic/fit and then in my late 20's kind of let myself go and gained a good amount of weight. I'd always wanted to lose weight and get back in shape, so I started trying before I got engaged. Now that we have a date set and I purchased my dress I have a real goal! I'm so close to my goal weight (only 4 pounds to go) and then from there I will work on toning.

Good on you gal! I have already bought my dress (before we postponed) so I am eager to avoid having to have it taken out. Starting back at the gym on Monday to try and focus on my body composition rather than just weight, watch this space!

Nope. I didn’t feel the need to change my body just because I was getting married.

I’m not trying to lose weight for my wedding, I’m happy with my body and while I’m making changes to my diet its for my own health rather than weight loss. My fiancé loves me the way I am and I feel no need to change my body to meet the societal pressures of being the “perfect bride”.

Yes. I lost 6.8 kg. Still trying to lose more. I did cardio from exercise videos on YouTube at home no equipment just a yoga mat. I also eat under 1500 calories per day.

I did & also started before our engagement. I got up to 240 pounds (sz 16) & absolutely disgusted with myself. I started with diet & started walking to work. When I hit a plateau, I started intermittent fastings. I’m down to 190! I wanted to get down to 200 before I had my tummy tuck & liposuction which I did. My fiancé is very supportive of my decision - loves me regardless of how much I way. I was able to get my procedure done in October & I love it!

Lol I wish my fh was supportive of me getting cosmetic surgery. I have body Dysmorphia, so he's against it and thinks I'll continue to get procedures.

I worked to tone and maintain healthy lifestyle which is hard because being able to actually keep going with it can be so difficult to maintain and be motivated to haha. My advice is to find an exercise regimen you actually enjoy doing

Yes and no. I want to lose weight before I get married because I'm the heaviest I've ever been due to a switch from a very active job to a sedentary one. It's been really hard to try to incorporate enough movement in my day with my job now. BUT I am not trying to lose weight/get healthy for my wedding necessarily...it's just a mark on my path to my goal. I don't think really anyone should be trying to lose weight for one day...I think it should be for a healthier life overall. You will look beautiful on your day no matter what, so try not to stress too much about weight because your FH loves you no matter what!

If you're interested in what people are doing to lose weight...I have calculated my calorie intake based on my activity levels, age, and weight, and I can eat up to 1800 calories per day on a really active day, 1400 on a slower day. I do at home workouts with a couple from the UK/Australia that you can find on YouTube called Team Body Project. They cater to every fitness level, offering multiple modifications. It's the only at-home workout I've loved and stuck with!

I was always more of an athletic build and on the smaller side. I'm 5'3" and my "normal" weight is around 125lbs, mostly muscle. A few years ago I had a really bad bout of depression. A few more of those and a few years later I reached the heaviest I'd ever been at 172.5lbs. I had made a few attempts to get rid of the weight, but wasn't able to keep going with it for whatever reason. John and I got engaged on October 30, 2020. At the time I was so self-conscious that I basically refused to be in pictures. I've been doing a HIIT/cardio weekly workout and mostly following a ketogenic diet since mid-November and have thus far lost about 20lbs. So yes, I'm in the process of losing weight before my (April 24,2021) wedding. However, the wedding isn't the only reason for the weight loss. I've been wanting to get back to my pre-depression weight for a while. I guess this is just the catalyst I needed to really get my butt into gear.
