Did you get your ring cleaned before the big day?

GrnSubmarine, on November 7, 2017 at 12:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 23

I get married on Saturday (woo!) and I was thinking about getting my ring cleaned. The jeweler that FH bought it from is kind of far away and I won't have time to make it out there before the wedding, so I'm looking for a place nearby to go. I've never had jewelry cleaned before, especially not something this precious! I have a few questions for you all:

1. where did you get yours cleaned?

2. how long did it take?

3. how much did it cost?

4. was it worth it?

I get mine cleaned at Jared every 6 months. I'm not sure how much it is because it was included when FH bought it. It only took about an hour and it's definitely worth it. My ring looks brand new when I get it back.

I got mine cleaned at the jewelers about a week before the wedding and it was still sparkly on the big day. Not sure what metal your ring is made out of but sometimes a little dawn dish soap and a toothbrush go a long way!

I took it to my jeweler that FH bought it and our bands from. I got it cleaned on Saturday and haven't worn it since (which is weird. I wear it mostly all of the time). It took about 30 mins and we shopped around while they did it. I'll put it on for the rehearsal dinner and the morning of our big day on Friday.

I got mine cleaned 2 days before the wedding, the jewelry store where my husband got my ring cleans it for free, because he knew it was a few days before the wedding the jeweler did a really thorough job so it took about 30 minutes

Generally you can walk in anywhere to get things cleaned. When I worked in a store at the mall I would frequently stop by the jewelry store there to have my earrings cleaned.

I agree with @TRJessie about having it rhodium dipped if it is white gold. This way your ring and wedding band will wear at the same rate.

I'm getting mine cleaned the day before the wedding. Look at little mom and pop jewelers. They usually have a polisher in shop that takes less than 5 mins.

I got my cleaned at Zales (where DH bought it) the day before the wedding. It only took a minute and doesn't cost anything. I wanted it to look sparkly and new again.

I'm all about local businesses and finding a local, trusted jeweler is one of those things I believe a girl should always have. (Right up there with tailor and mechanic.) I talk to anyone I might know with a lot of expensive or vintage jewelry. I compare their notes, read reviews online and run the name of the place I'm choosing by my original respondents. Even if it's just for a cleaning, make friends!

I'm dropping my ring off today to get cleaned and soldered. My ring is from Jared's so it came with the purchase for free cleanings, inspections, diamond replacements etc. However I'm sure a local jeweller will do it for free. Or maybe try Kay's, I believe their cleaning is free. :-)

I dropped mine off at the end of the week last week. It will be ready tomorrow night. My jeweler didn't charge me anything and I got it cleaned as well as dipped so it would be as clean and shiny as my band. Can't wait to have it back!!

My FH bought my ring at Jared and it includes free cleanings. I just got it cleaned this past weekend and will do it again the week of the wedding. It only takes them 10 minutes or less, depending on the number of people waiting for the same service.

We got my e- ring out of state, so I found a jeweler here to adjust it and what not. I'll have him clean it too. Last time he cleaned it when he tightened it came out beautiful! It's platinum so mine can't be dipped I don't believe, but it was beautiful!

Any jewelry place should be able to clean them.

I second getting it dipped if it's white gold. I went back to jeweler where we got ours from and they did for free. Also got it cleaned. Didn't take long at all. Stopped on my way home on my last day of work before the wedding.

All of the local jewelry stores clean them for free and it only takes a few minutes. I've gotten mine cleaned at least five times already and we have only been engaged six months. I actually got mine cleaned at the JC Penny jewelry counter this weekend before our engagement pictures and it was free and quick.

The jeweler my ring came from offers free cleanings and prong checks once a year. I'll definitely be getting it cleaned before the wedding. We just got engaged in July and I've already noticed that my ring is not quite as sparkly as the day I got it.

Yes! Wedding Twin!!! I got mine re-dipped (since it is white gold) and polished and you can 1000% see the difference. If they are able to get it done quick I suggest you do it. Definitely worth it! I didnt have to pay anything since I have to take my ring in every 6 months for it to be inspected and make sure everything is tight (prongs wise) warranty covers it all. Otherwise it should be no more than $40

Most jewlers would clean it so free. They see you as a possible future customer since you are in store and probably browsing while they clean it.
