Did anyone have braces on their wedding day?

FutureMrsBoo, on August 11, 2017 at 1:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I have the opportunity to get Invisalign a very reduced price. I am over the moon because I've very self-conscious about my dramatic overbite and overjet. But the office has been very clear that there will be attachments cemented to my teeth and I will not be done with the treatment in time for the wedding.

I've read that some people have their braces or attachments removed the day before the wedding then reattached in one or two days. But because the orthodontist is already providing me the treatment at cost to him (he's a family friend of my FH), I'm not comfortable asking for this extra service from him.

So my question is if anyone has actually had braces or attachments visible on their teeth on their wedding day, and how you worked around that for photos. I'm actually more nervous about my overbite in profile pictures than I am about "bumps," but are they more obvious than I'm realizing? Or really not a big deal at all?

How is your photographer situation looking? If you hired a professional, share your concerns! They might be able to photoshop them out.

I agree with the poster above, the photographer should be able to photoshop the problems out.

I am currently wearing ceramic braces and they're not scheduled to come off until April of 2018. I plan on just taking out the wires and hopefully the photographer can edit the brackets out. If not, they're not too visible and I don't really mind.

I had Invisalign and I don't even remember the attachments being visible at all. I did not have them for my wedding, but my friend did and I don't even think you can see them in the pictures at all. She also never mentioned them being visible.

Thanks for sharing your ideas and experiences, all. We have two venues on hold and need to make a decision this weekend, so haven't yet talked seriously with any photographers. In case that level of photo editing is not in our budget, I'm reassured to hear that they aren't a huge deal!

I just got Invisalign on Monday and was shocked by how the attachments were on so many of my front teeth. It depends which teeth need to be moved. Mine is even a minor adjustment but I feel like it is very noticeable. It may just be me, but I would not feel comfortable wearing them on my wedding day and I feel more self conscious with them than i originally thought I would.

Hello! Invisalign user here! I just got Invisalign a week ago and took my engagement pictures on Monday! I was also worried about having the attachments showing in the pictures but you can not tell at all!!! I did take my trays out for the photos. The only time you can really see them are pictures of my profile and even then you can only see them if you're really looking for them and know that they are there! I also don't think it would be a hassle for your orthodontist to remove the attachments. My orthodontist told me they shave off and put them back on ALL the time for graduations, weddings, and other special occasions. It only took about 10 or 15 minutes for them to glue them on my teeth. Best of luck and I think you would be very pleased with Invisalign Smiley smile

*I also have THREE attachments on my front teeth if that tells you anything. They're really not noticeable unless you have the trays in

It really really depends on the tooth movement you need. I have one friend who has so many attachments, it looks insane! I had zero, so I just left them out on my wedding day.

I would ask your ortho about a cost to remove them temporarily. Maybe other posters can comment on what it feels like to have the aligners out with attachments exposed- Do your lips get caught on them, do they cause sores etc?

I have the good old fashion metal braces. They are scheduled to come off in August 2018. It will be before my wedding, but my engagement photos I will still be wearing them more than likely. I usually just have a closed smile in pictures. Every once in a while I smile with teeth showing. Until I get these suckers off that it.
