Diameters of your wedding cake tiers?

..., on April 28, 2017 at 3:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Hello! I'm reposting my question and clarifying a little bit more. Smiley smile I would like to know what size cake are you having (or did you have) for your wedding? Looking for ideas so please provide the number of tiers you had as well as the diameters of the tiers and the diameter of the base (if you know). Thanks so much!

Shouldn't your cake vendor provide this info?

Mine will be three tiers, 6 in, 8 in and 10 in rounds to feed 60 guests with several sheet cakes to feed the other 140 guests. Can't advise as to the base as my vendor will be providing it.

I really don't know why you hid your other thread. I already gave this advice but I guess I'll repeat it.

I would advise that you get a cake stand with a diameter that is between 2 and 4 inches wider than your bottom tier.

@Littledemon because I think people were getting confused as to what exactly I was asking so I decided to start a new thread to clarify. See above.

Mine had the same dimensions as Susan's. 10,8,6. I was worried it would look small. But it was perfect.

I had 7, 10, 12 for mine. They said it would feed 65 people. I got the exact same cake in a sheet cake that fed 70 people to cover the rest of my guests.

I've got the same comment as before Smiley smile

The size of your cake is entirely dependent on the number of guests you need to feed, and the size of the bottom tier can also depend on how many tiers you have total!

For accurate information - you should ask your family friend who is making the cake! People can share what size they used, but that doesn't mean it will fit your cake! From the answers on the last post it sounds like everyone got a cake stand that is at least 2 inches wider than the base of their cake.

Mine is 14, 10, 7. I have 107 guests so we should have a lot left over. Here's a pic of the diameters and how many slices you should get. The base (cardboard) under the cake is 16" and our cake stand is 18" I hope it helps!

I have no idea what size each tier was because I had a professional handle this for me. This was our cake to feed 140.

We are having a small 2-tier (10 inch and I think 6 or 8 top tier) to show and cut and then a sheet cake in the back that will be sliced to serve. It's saving us hundreds as opposed to a huge tiered cake big enough to serve everyone.

FH and I are having a 6" cake and the rest cupckaes for the guests. Smiley smile I agree with pp though your Baker should be able to help you determine the best sizes for your wedding.

Ours will be 14", 10", 7" and they recommended this for 136 people.
