Destinations for a continental us honeymoon

Carrie, on March 12, 2020 at 10:29 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

I can’t be the only one with this problem, so hopefully we can get some ideas for all the newlyweds that are having to rethink their honeymoon.

I feel like the air has been let out of my balloon. My honeymoon is in three weeks. My work just announced anyone flying or going on a cruise will be on a mandatory 2 week (unpaid) quarantine, because we work with a vulnerable population. My dream honeymoon cruise is postponed until next year, and I am now limited to a continental US honeymoon away from major hotspots or outbreaks, and it must be accessible by car. So no Disney, NYC, or West Coast.

I am hoping the many brides on here have some great ideas that may help us regain the excitement about a new destination that we previously had about going on a honeymoon cruise.

Wowowowowo they cannot say unpaid that’s not what I heard last night on the state of the nation address not trying to be political BUTTTTT my understanding is that jobs can’t do that to their employees at this time. They wrong for that smhhhhhhhhhh try go somewhere by car and return so you can still be employed especially if you been at this job for years.

So sorry that happened to you, what a bad situation your in! If your into the outdoors, there are lots of beautiful national parks, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and a few in Utah and Colorado. There are tons of activities and some really nice resorts with spas! Hopefully you find something lovely even if it’s not your dream place.

Same situation. My dream European Honeymoon....the one thing that has gotten me through all this planning is now cancelled bc my job says I cant fly for 60 days.
We love to road trip so we are looking at doing cool national park road trips to places we have never been. We are driving from California to Wisconsin in a hurry but now we are looking at doing a camping trip somewhere then heading across North Dakota into Montana and Wyoming and down into Utah. Really depends on what you want to see and how ling you're willing to spend on the road. My fiance and I are people who get off the main interstate if we can so you can really take in this beautiful country.

What do you want out of your honeymoon? Hiking, relaxing on the beach, a cabin getaway? I know it's disappointing, but there are lots of beautiful destinations in the US also!

I'm sorry but I respectfully disagree, I believe the President was talking about all of us who are just trying to get by with our daily lives and end up contract the virus; those were the people that the employers need to assist with paid time off if quarantined. If she purposely puts her self in harms way by going on a cruise (when the CDC and State Dept. are advising against) why should her employer pay the price?

I'm in the same boat, even though we aren't getting married till June, we are actively looking at Plan B honeymoons in the Continental US if Europe is a bust.

Good luck with the search, as Caytlyn says, there are plenty of beautiful and amazing places here in the US to explore.

St. George Utah is beautiful - I stayed at the Red Mountain Resort there, would highly recommend. It's close to Zion National Park and also not far from Vegas!

You're trying to stay on the east coast, right? And away from NYC, Disney, etc.? I chose Key West for our honeymoon. I've been but FH hasn't. It's pretty easily accessible by foot from what I remember, too (no car rental)

You said by car but I'm not sure where you are coming from. Depending on what you are looking for, these "smaller" destinations may be good options: Gatlinburg, TN; Asheville, NC; Hilton Head, SC; Cape Cod or Provincetown, MA; Wilmington, NC; Newport, RI; Martha's Vineyard, MA; Clearwater, FL.

Best of luck! There are plenty of beautiful places to go!
