Destination wedding w/ a large bridal party

Mindy, on August 27, 2019 at 10:29 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
HELP! My FH and I are still deciding on our venue. We have it narrowed down to 2. Our original plan was a local place, 125 guests and we each had 6 people in our bridal party. Now we are thinking on a destination wedding with only 35 guests but he still wants to have 6 people on each side w/ us in our bridal party. I need opinions!! When I think of a small intimate destination wedding I don’t think of a large bridal party. What has everyone else done in this situation? Maybe just a MOH and BM?? How can I convince him to cut the bridal party down to keep it more intimate?

I don't think it matters. If he wants 6 on his side, I'd let him. Then have however man you want on your side. We had 125 guests, 19 of those in our wedding party. Our ceremony still felt super intimate.

We had a 17 person DW with no bridal party. My sister sat in the front row and grabbed my flowers from me when i got down the aisle.

My friend had a 50 person DW and they each had 3 on a side for their bridal party.

If you want a bridal party, have one. If not, don’t. It’s personal preference.

We are having a DW wedding with 70 people invited. He will have 5 on his side and I will have 5 or 6 (depends on when my MOH gets back from deployment). I say do what makes you happy and don't worry about the number on each side!

It sounds like you already asked your bridal party - if so, i think it's rude to "cut" them just because your plans changed. If you haven't asked, then you each get to have whoever you want - sides dont' have to be even.

I don't see an issue with large BPs for a destination wedding Smiley smile

We’re having a destination wedding with approximately 40 guests. I have 4 bridesmaids and he has 4 groomsmen. Since you’re changing from a local wedding to a destination wedding, I would talk with your bridal party members separately to make sure each has the time and money to travel and make that commitment. You may have a few people who need to back out, but I definitely wouldn’t cut any of your BP that you’ve already asked.
