Destination wedding lots of guests!

Kat, on September 18, 2016 at 10:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Has anyone done an all inclusive dw with 80+ guests? Did you get killed with resort costs? All resort packages seem to be for 20 people and you pay an enormous amount per person after. Just wondering about other experiences with lots of guests

FH & I are having our wedding at the Riu Montego Bay. We're going with a $3k package which covers 40 guests. We're aiming for about 80 ppl and the resort is charging $11.50 per extra person which is actually a great deal. Some other resorts charge more so it's definitely important to find out before you lock a location down.

My package only includes 20 guests, but in all seriousness the price for that was more than reasonable. We are inviting 60 at $30 bucks a head over the first 20, so Im just gonna be prepared to fork out some more $$$$. Either that or you cut the guest list. With a DW wedding it may cut itself anyway.

I have the same wedding as Sailaway.. I invited 85 people and so far 24 are going. Don't expect 80 people to show up. I will be paying $22 per person since I have met my 20 guest for the package I selected.

I have the same package as sailaway as well. We invited 260 people and so far 45 have reserved and we're 11 months out. I think this is a common

Misconception of DW that they are less expensive. DW can be just as expensive by the time you factor in everything. Unless you have very few people coming.

I'm having my wedding in Punta Cana. We invited 60 guests and are having 45 attending. Our package cost $3800 and it includes 25 guests and it's $17 per person. That is not including cocktail hour. It's not included in our package, but thank God my coordinator is.working with us and made an exception for us. DW are expensive. We had a budget of $15k, we are now at about $25k! Everything is separate, decorations, photo/video, etc... plus we are giving our guests, welcome gifts...it's expensive! Best of luck to everyone having a DW! Hopefully it's stress free and enjoyable . Smiley smile

We are having a DW via cruise ship in Nassau Bahamas. I'm been talking to a few planners and it seems the price depends on the locations. So we are estimating about $50 per person . We have 48 on our total list but expect no more than 20 to travel with us .

@futuremrssuge - why are you speaking with planners? What cruise line are you using? You have 3 other brides on this page who are also having cruise weddings. Mine is $22/person.. Sailaway is spending $30 and I'm not sure what cruiseline DWbride is using.

Mrs. Suge.... are you getting married through the cruiseline or through a private company in port?

Currently I am at 44.... n counting. They are charging 85 ppl over. I cringe but I'm happy so many people want to celebrate with us.

Kat, it is easy 1.5 years in advance for 80 people to say, "Sure, we'll be there."

I think when it gets down to the nitty gritty, you'll be at 40 or under.

I officiate a LOT of destination weddings here. Most are under 20, a few between 20-40.

@FMP : To help speed up the marriage license process , book the ceremony space and find a restaurant with a private dining room .

@Sailaway : We are getting married on land . Carnival packages are too expensive and don't include enough stuff for the price. Carnival also offers land packages but they outsource it to a planner on the land . So according to my math it would be cheaper to find a planner out there. And we can have a actual dinner and not just cake and open bar.

@nancy T totally understand! We both have very large comitted families so wanted to make sure I was planning for that many as it was a serious possibility. Of course the numbers might change by then
