Destination Wedding HELP!

FutureMrsWolff, on August 17, 2017 at 10:58 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 23

Hello!!

I am needing help finding a location for our destination wedding. There are a few stipulations:

1. I have my heart set on a church wedding at an all inclusive beach resort but open to a small indoor venue or covered area with a breathtaking view. I love the beach settings I have seen but looking for something a little different.

2. Must be family friendly or have a family friendly sister resort as we will have children at the wedding.

3. The wedding will be in December 2018 but no set date yet.

We appreciate any and all tips/advice. Thank you and a congratulations to everyone!!!

Hmm that's a tall order! What about getting married on a Cruise Ship? 4 day cruises to the Bahamas are pretty reasonable. I'm getting married on the beach in Florida. The hard part is a church on the beach! I'm not aware of any....have you narrowed down location? Do you want US, Cariibbean, Mexico?

Beach real estate is too expensive for most churches. There are beachfront restaurants in my area that host ceremonies on 'their' beaches and then the reception.

Thank you! I am not interested in a cruise as I have been on multiple. We are looking in the Caribbean, possibly Nassau or Mexico for an all inclusive resort. However, nothing is set in stone yet.

If you're set on a church wedding, you may have to forgo the destination wedding. Many churches require you to be a part of their congregation to marry there, i think.

The idea came from the Chapel on Stilts in Bora Bora and I have seen where Atlantis in Nassau, Bahamas as a pavilion they have set church pews in. Bora Bora is out of the question due to cost and travel time. I"m more on the hunt for an indoor intimate and small wedding venue. It will definitely be a destination wedding however that has to be tweaked. #stubbornbride

My wedding will be at Grand Bahia Tulum Mexico in 2 months! Go on YouTube and search the name of the resort plus the word wedding you might be able to see video clips of weddings . I attended a wedding at Paradisco Del Mar Iberostar resort in Maya Rivera there is a chapel on the grounds but idk how it's connected to the resort.

Look at Greece. My FH and I looked there and there are a TON of churches on the beach (or within easy walking distance). You could even get married in a church and then head off on a Mediterranean cruise with your wedding guests immediately after (or the next day).

Well I vacation in Nassau every year and I was going to suggest Atlantis. Also the brand new Bahamar resort just opened there and looks beautiful! You might try seeing what they have available. The Grand Hyatt is open now and later there will be 2 more hotels.

www.bahamar.com I do know that people can stay across the street from the Atlantis at the Comfort Suites for less money and they still get privileges at Atlantis. This might be a more economical option for family if they don't want to stay at Atlantis. You can also try Compass Point Resort (very colorful and fun for pictures!) and Breezes which is family friendly. Also Sandy Port Resort has a dock and a small pavilion......I was going to get married there several years ago. Good luck, I hope you find something!

I think Sandals Montego Bay just made some updates to their wedding packages and renovations. It does have a Chapel too if I'm not mistaken. You may want to check them out.

You girls are so awesome! We are leaning toward the Atlantis or Bahamar resort. Not only do they have things for adults but tons of entertainment for the nieces and nephews. We are still open to suggestions seeing that my FH thinks it's silly I want to be inside when we have a beach right in front of us, which I understand. But I will probably win, haha! Has anyone seen on other forums or personally been to a wedding there? Or stayed? I have only visited Atlantis once while on a cruise. And one more silly little questioned for a very cold natured bride but a hot natured groom. What is the weather there in December?

Nicole make sure you also know what the requirements are to legally get married in a different country. Mexico requires blood tests and residency.
