Destination Nightmare

We booked our venue a year in advance. We are in love with the island, the location, the vendors we've chosen. We visited twice, once as a couple once woth our parents. We sent save the dates, we have our guest list finalized, we paid deposits.

6 months before the wedding date we were struggling to get answers on details from our venue. She suggested "that's how it works on the island" and if we wanted more personalized service to hire a planner. So we did.
5 months before the wedding we still cam not get any info from anyone about any details other than date.
Now I get island time. However, we are flying over 100 guests for a wedding we are expecting to cost approximately 200k usd. We are asking our guests to only pay for flights. We are covering their accommodations, food and drink for 3 nights. Plus an extravagant ceremony and reception. We want luxury. We want catered to.
We expressed our need for more contact and were told no. We just canceled everything. I now have 5 months to plan something completely different.
😭😭😭We literally have no budget, the sky is the limit. I would spend a million dollars if that's what it cost to have what I want. Why can't we get people to be a little more accommodating.

I'm sorry that is happening to you, Coll. One should deal in business with cultural-sensitivity. However, they lost quite a profit because they chose not to deal with you, or your planner. Perhaps a larger corporation with a similar business culture as yours may have the space and accessibility you desire in 5 months time. [Edited] so I just recommended a particular resort, but it's now under new management. However, all my stays at overseas Ritz Carlton hotels (US based) have been excellent. Best wishes finding what you want.

My best advice is going to be to have the wedding within the US. Unfortunately I think communicating with people who are in a completely different time zone, may speak a completely different language and operate completely different than Americans makes it more difficult to coordinate.
