Dessert Bar vs. Candy Bar

Army Wife, Navy Sailor, on October 18, 2011 at 11:55 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

So Ladies I am in need of some assistance. I was planning on doing a candy bar but after reading some post I realized that a candy bar will only work if there is alot of children. I will not be having alot of children at my wedding so now i am thinking of doing a Dessert Bar instead. The hubby wants icecream so i figured a variety of Icecream and a variety of cakes, cookies, cupcakes etc would be a good way to go.

Has anyone ever heard of some doing a Dessert Bar?

If so was it worth it and how do i figure out how much of everything i am going to need

You can do the candy bar. You will be surprised how much adults like candy. You can do combination of candy and dessert bar.

I think either way will be great! I have a lot of diabetics in my family so we're doing a dessert bar so that we can make special ones for them, but I don't know a single adult that doesn't like candy!

Thanks for the advice ladies. i do have alot of older people that have restrictions on what they can and can not eat so i am going to have to keep that in mind. but the good thing is that since my hubby is allegric to yeast we have already found a bakery that i handle his allegry so hopefully they will be willing to do my whole dessert bar and i may add some candy in there since we are also gonna have icecream.

I would do a little of both and have a Dessert & Candy Bar ... you can offer your guests little bags to take candy home as well or even little containers for desserts too.

We only had 7 kids at our wedding and the candy was gone before we got to the reception! I thought at first they forgot to put it out but apparently the adults went crazy. I bought a ton of candy too. So don't dismiss this idea just yet but I do love the idea of a dessert bar.

We did both a candy and desserts bar with cookies & cupcakes- we had no kids at our wedding except my nephew and EVERYTHING was gone! I never even got one of the damned cupcakes! Adults love candy and sweets bars.

My FH and I are BIG kids and love sweets so we plan on doing a Candy Bar with a few desserts ie. cupcakes, yougurt covered pretzels etc. Our venue is providing deserts already, so I have choosen to have the desserts at the candy bar for those that are diabetic.

You could do a mixture of both! We're doing a dessert bar at ours, and we'll have some rock candy, lollipops, etc mixed in with the baked goods.

I agree with everyone here......Adults too like the candy bar....And there is no rules to have either candy bar or desert bar....Or having candy bar only when you have lots of children in the wedding......Just combine both of them......Everyone likes candy and deserts.....like this..
