Dessert Bar for Favors

Shayna, on October 10, 2019 at 2:37 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

Hi Everyone!

I am thinking about having a dessert bar after the reception, which would act as the favors for guests. When the reception is over we are going to have a coffee/latte bar, which will have liquor as well to add to them (venue providing this) and I was thinking next to that I can have a dessert bar (ie. donuts, cake balls, cookies, etc..) for guests to grab a to-go bag and pick what they would like.

Curious if anyone has done this before? And if so, how did you plan on how much food to buy?

Thanks!

I think this sounds awesome. However, if you're doing it in conjunction with a booze-optional latte bar, I would have all of that out for the last hour of the reception. It seems weird to end the reception, then give everyone boozy coffee and dessert to go.

I think that the grab and go bags are a really cute idea! I’ve seen it done with candy, which is less expensive, but I think donut holes, cookies, Rice Krispies, churros, pretzel bites, anything like that could be good.

Welcome to the community Shayna! I think that this idea sounds perfect!! I love that you already have a coffee bar too, your guests will love this!!

Depending on your guest list (whether your guests have very sweet teeth, or if you will have a lot of children in attendance) I would have at least 2 treats per guest. As you know, some people may not take a treat, but some might take two or three especially if you are also providing baggies for guests to take some home! You want to make sure that you have enough for everyone!

But how do you figure out how many of each thing to make? We have mini pies, mini italian pastries and 6 kinds of cookies for 200 guests....How much? I am thinking 1200 cookies, 200 pies and 400 italian pastries.
