Desperately in need of a high quality replica wedding dress!

Shorouq, on April 13, 2015 at 11:24 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

So long story short, I am just about to go crazy looking for my wedding dress. I can't seem to like anything...especially not in my $300-$400 price point. I am in love with this Suzanna Blazevic ball gown (see photos), and I want to find an online dress maker who can replicate this dress with accuracy....not like those cheap fake dresses.

Please leave a link or name below to any good online dress sellers who replicate dresses...whether it's on etsy, ebay, dhgate, or any other website.... as long as it is safe and guaranteed! i am also open to any local seamstresses or one who are willing to work long distance.

I was in the same boat but then I looked around on some forums and happened to see a bride to be talking about a bridal shop in China called Jasmine's bridal. She said they were absolutely fabulous and also uploaded pictures of the dress she was having them make. I did some research and the reviews were also pretty good. So I began communictaing with one of the seamstress' there via email and so far I'm happy with them. They have several photos of replica wedding dresses on their site and on their facebook there are some photos of the original and the replica so you can see their accuracy. I plan to order my dress later this year. It's funny because I never thought that I would order my dress online let alone from China but when I saw what they could do I changed my mind!! Here is the link

http://www.jasminesbridalshop.com/ and their facebook link https://www.facebook.com/pages/Jasmines-Bridal-Shop/121989811259949?fref=ts

I encourage you to check them out!

If you go this route I would try to find someone local to you. There are so many nightmare stories about people buying knock off dresses and then they turn out nothing like the original.

If you find a local seamstress you can check in on the dress, make sure it fits and looks like it should. I personally would not buy one off the internet

I have actually seen Jasmine Bridal's work, and compared to some it's very nice! I am just so afraid they won't be able to replicate the fullness of the skirt. Smiley sad

The fullness of the skirt is mostly the undergarments.

eta: it's literally tulle with lining. you'll have to get the correct undergarment in order to achieve the ballgown fullness look.

My FSIL used House of Brides for her bridesmaid dresses, and they came back beautifully. You might be able to find your dress for discount on there! (and if not the same, maybe something similar?) I bought my dress on a whim because one of the bridal shops was having a sale, and saved me almost 2000$. Might be worth it to check out some trunk sales around!

Typically you can not find a replica gown (unless it's from a horrible knockoff site) or a seamstress to even make you a match for your price range. Try looking at used gowns.

Have you even gone shopping yet? If not, hop on over to a DB and try on numerous dress styles, you may not even like the tulle or a ball gown style.

I agree with Ally, The fullness is achieved with layers and layer of tulle or petticoats.

Jasmine's bridal can make you a petticoat for a fuller skirt... I've asked already! Lol

It's highly doubtful that you will find someone to make a gown of designer quality for $300 or $400-- especially by this designer. There is one Suzanna Blazevic ball gown (similar to this style) that is on a pre-owned site. The dress originally retailed for more than $8,000, and used, it's being sold for $3,800. I'm not sure anyone here is going to guarantee you complete safety and reliability with any Asian knock-off site. Your best bet is to start searching pre-owned gowns, consignment stores, and CL for something similar. There are no short-cuts. You get what you pay for.

I found a similar one for $250 from a company on alibaba.... http://szhehe.en.alibaba.com/

I feel like the skirt is a little too flowy compared to the original. Any tips on how to make it more similar? Tell me what you guys think!

I am just afraid because they do not offer returns unless there is a quality issue.

I know people have budgets, but it seems unfair to the designer for you to get a replica made... They put in effort an time to make the design, and they are not getting paid for their ideas... That being said, I do understand budgets. I would trust someone locally over international shipping, at least you can meet them and get sized etc etc

Alibaba is set up like etsy or ebay, so every store is run independently. When I shop on etsy or anywhere online for that matter if they don't accept returns I don't buy there.

I am confused about their return policy honestly...I looked at their website and it said if there is a quality issue they accept returns within 7 days and that if there is no quality issue they have a right to charge a handling fee. But when I chatted live with an assistant she did not mention that I may return even if there is no 'quality' issue.

I am sure I will love the dress, just not sure about the quality.

Buying from a chinese company is a big risk, yeah you pay a lower price, but you also GET a lower quality of materials and details. You may get something OK, wearable, but you could also get a super crappy dress, and your 200-400 would be all wasted.

Also, sizes and proportions are different in China, so altering a whole dress would also add up at the end. Why risk it in your BIG day?

Try all your local/domestic resources first.

Not that I've ever ordered from alibaba myself, but i was looking at reviews over the site in general. Way more horror stories than success stories! It's awesome if you actually find someone thing and it all works out but yiiiikes. If you spend $200 on a dress and then due to scammy sellers, have to spend another $200 on a "real" dress you might as well have spent $400 on a dress to begin with and looked more locally. I feel your pain though. I don't want to spend more than $500 pre alterations and tax on my dress and I too want a beautiful full ball gown.

Ball Gowns are so expensive! If I didn't want a ball gown, I would have found a dress a looooong time ago.
