Deodorant for wedding day

Kathryn, on July 7, 2016 at 5:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 31

What deodorant did you use for wedding day? Did it work? I'm afraid of sweating a lot. Has anyone used clinical strength? Do you just put it on at night or in the morning too? I though about trying a different deodorant for the next couple days to test something different out.

I'm a stress sweater. I'm going to use Certain Dri roll on. It's not a deodorant. It's something that you put on at night and it reduces the amount you sweat in the first place. You can get it at any drug store. I find that I have to use it a few nights before it works at it's best. Then I'll use my clinical strength as day of deodorant.

    ETA for clarity.

I just used my regular one (Secret, baby powder scent).

ETA: I just put it on before I walked out and was good to go.

I just wore the same one I wear everyday, Secret clear gel, and I was fine...and I'm a sweater. That was one of my biggest reasons for getting married in the winter (well, what passes for winter in Texas at least.) Reminds me of a funny story though...one of the worst wedding nightmares I had involved, among so many other f'd up things, me forgetting to bring deodorant to the venue where we got ready. When none of my BM's had any either, I flipped my shit and started calling them all bitches, lol. It was hilarious! I also wore gold sequin hot pants down the aisle in that dream, so there's that.

People swear by Certain Dri (the roll on reportedly works better than the solid which is supposed to be for sensitive skin). I decided to give it a go several days before the wedding because it was forecasted to be HOT that weekend (it was 95 in the early afternoon, and 113 in the valley on Fathers Day).

The first couple of days were fine, but then my underarms got really itchy. Also, DH didn't wait for it to dry before putting on his cheesy "husband" honeymoon shirt before we headed to the airport and he ruined it (with the Certain Dri - they do warn you on the package that it can discolor clothing if you don't let it dry, but you're supposed to apply it at night). I threw it out.

But yes, also better to test new things earlier as I was still a little itchy on wedding day.

I forget the exact name of it, but it was a clear liquid from a spray bottle and I think it was called crystal rock. It's harder to find, I believe I got it at a natural foods store.

As for inside of my dress I covered myself with cornstarch to prevent chafing and it did help with sweating as well.

    Corn starch is your friend!

I bought the secret clinical strength to try out. It also has to be put on at night to work. Definitely do try it out in advance first, because I can't imagine being allergic on the wedding day.

Check out Sweat Block. It's a towelette that you use at night, and in theory, it lasts for a week through showering.

@Mrs. T, certain dri totally makes my arm pits itch like crazy. I hate it. Plus using it for too many days in a row for too long will cause my to have a reaction. But, I use it for special occasions.

Degree Motion Sense is awesome! They redid the formula and it works wonders now. I loved the Secret mineral line that they made, but now can't find it anywhere.

I swear by secret clinical strength (clear gel) any time I'm sleeveless/strapless and it worked great as usual. I didn't like the certain dri at all when I tried it in the past. It burned my underarms & seemed way too strong.

I've started using secret clinical strength and it works pretty well. I always feel like I smell, but I think I'm the only one who can smell anything bad lol.
