Delayed Wedding Dress

Maria, on May 23, 2018 at 6:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8

Hello.

I ordered my dress back in 11/7/17. It is an essence of Australia gown I bought in a small boutique (with good reviews) in my town. When I bought it, they told me it should be here second or third week of May but most likely they will get it April. Well. It is almost the last week of may, and dress has not shipped. My wedding (Destination) is June 30th. I need the dress by 06/24/18

I contacted the boutique 2 weeks ago and they told me they were given a shipping date of 05/17/18, so it would be here 05/23/18 (today). I called the boutique today and told me they were having problems with this designer and I was not the only bride that had her dress delayed. They told me it looks like next week, but with the holiday might be delayed. After I lost it, she reassured me many many times that the dress would be here on time, that they would have the time to do alterations, blah blah! She is a nice person, but I'm freaking out!!!

What should I do? Has anyone been through something similar??

I'm not so sure if it's "a problem with the designer" or they did not tell you that the designer has a long manufactering time. I was told a firm 8 months for my Stella York (which I believe is the same conpany).

Same here; mine was Essense/Stella and I was told 7 months. My bridal shop also has a habit of sending the order and telling the designer the wedding is a month earlier than it actually is. I ordered mine in early March and should get it mid-September

My Essence gown was ordered 12/22/17, it came in two weeks ago. Though it wasn’t schedule to come in till end of May/beginning June, it coming early was a nice surprise. So I don’t think it’s a designer issue.

I’d definitely find out exactly what seems to be the problem. Perhaps contact Essenes directly?

I ordered a Martina Liana which is the same designer. I was told that that designer has the longest production time BUT they do send out dresses based on your wedding date. I would verify with the salon that they did everything correctly on their end. Worst case scenario, try to get express shipping. Hope it comes soon!

I got an essence of Australia dress. I ordered it mid November and it came in two weeks ago. So it was right on time, 6 months like they said. Maybe wait through next week and them see. I am sure that dresses can be rushed shipped. I would say contact the actual designer but I dont know how that would work.

I am currently experiencing the same thing, to a degree. I ordered my Essense dress in early February, and my wedding is in September. The bridal shop said it should arrive by April, now they are saying June. But according to what y’all are saying, with a 6 month time frame, I’ll be lucky to get it by my wedding date too! Smiley angry

IMO, designers and/or bridal salons shouldn’t give inaccurate production times. I’m pretty unhappy already as a result, and have started looking into plan B. Trouble is, the options are now pretty limited given I only have about 4 months before the wedding. Luckily, the area I live in has a local designer who handmakes all her dresses, so they are already sized in her bridal salon, so I’m thinking about going there if my dress doesn’t come in. Maybe there are stores like that in your area?

I actually think there may be something going on with this designer... they are very popular and I don’t think the designer is prepared sufficiently to handle the volume. Driving production according to deadline (wedding date) rather than order date is stressful, unfair to those who plan ahead, and not good customer service. I would caution brides about buying an Essence dress.

im so very sorry this is happening to you. Please keep us posted, and good luck!

Thank you all for your responses. I am going to the boutique as soon as they open and ask for a concrete date. I cannot keep hearing maybe next week Smiley angry . But I'm sure she won't give me anything because she is in the same boat as I am!!!!

I do not have a plan B, at this point I don't even have many options... Just buy something that looks like a wedding dress online??? IDK Smiley sad

Please pray my dress comes soon. I will keep you posted.
