Decorate a Bridge Venue? *pics*

TugBride, on September 7, 2016 at 7:41 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

My FH and I just found our venue. He is going to get his captains license before the wedding so the river is very important to us. It hold a lot of meaning in our relationship and is also a place where both of our families have had careers. So we found this adorable little bridge in our home town right on the river that we love visiting and we decided we want to get married there. Now the only issue I have is how on earth do I decorate for our wedding? We will be having both our ceremony and reception there since we will only be having 25 people (including us).

I just want to hide the plaques and maybe incorporate the benches somehow but in an elegant way that would tie in with our vintage wedding theme?

Thanks so much I didn't event think about pictures! I just was thinking lots of fabric to kinda hide the bottom and then using 'cascading' flowers to hide the plaques. That's a good point! Maybe a couple of cute bows or flowers or something to bring in the benches so they're pretty too but I'm kinda worried I'll over do it. Yep and arch is a wonderful idea! My fiance is actually going to build a custom one for me :3 hes so sweet!

Thanks! I really hope the pictures turn out really well. I'm just a little concerned about lighting and such I'm honestly not sure how anything is going to work since I don't think there is any kind of outlets... However I'm sure if I don't wait until too late in the evening it should be fine lol. I am sure your venue is going to be just as wonderful!

Hi TugBride. I absolutely LOVE your venue/bridge and the reasons why you want to have your wedding there. Because of its importance to you, I would not hide anything, not even the plaques nor would I cover anything with fabric. I would let the bridge be "the bridge".

Here are my thoughts for décor :

    - have the center of the bridge be where you will be married, thus having chairs on either side of the center. The chairs can even be curved to give it a softer feel. If you do a curved seating plan, there's a good chance the plaques will be covered by the backs of the chairs.

    - keep the décor up and out of the way. I would hang fall wreaths from the cross beams. The bridge "ceiling" looks short enough that the tallest "A" ladder would allow for someone to get up high enough to hang the wreaths. Even if it's too tall, a rope could be thrown ... see pics below ...

    - instead of an arch, hang another, more prominent wreath in the middle.

    - you have a year and will be able to get quite a few of the wreath décor items on sale.

    - depending on your wreath style, your chairs could compliment them. If you have a romantic, shabby chic vibe, have every chair be different but maybe all the same color. You can pick up chairs from Goodwill and garage sales. You need less than 25 chairs. Post your pics on Pinterest to resell them or donate them to whoever owns the venue.

But I definitely think you should keep the bridge as is and keep any décor "up".
