Decor ideas- help!

Mallory, on May 22, 2019 at 6:40 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8
Hello,

i am getting married in a country club that I loved when I first looked at it, but I’m not a big fan anymore.

Anyways, the ceremony will most likely take place in front of this fireplace with a large Scottish crest hanging above it. They won’t let me take it down so I need ideas to cover it- that won’t look like I’m covering something.

Any ideas? We are allowed to pin stuff in the wood paneling around the fire place. The only idea I have is pinning a tight cable and hanging some chiffon drapes. Idk how that would actually pan out though

I'm sorry to hear you aren't loving your venue anymore! Any particular reason why, aside from the crest? I honestly wouldn't attempt to cover it up. There's really no way you could make it appear as if you weren't trying to hide something. I would leave it, and decorate around it

I'm sorry you don't love your venue anymore! I'm not sure I would try and cover it up either. I'd decorate the mantle to bring everyone's attention to it instead.

Chiffon drapes or greenery garland would look great on the fireplace.

These are just my thoughts.......you're getting married at a Scottish-themed country club, but you don't want to use the Scottish decor? I know you only mentioned the crest above the fireplace, but it seems to me that you have an amazing opportunity here to do something unique and save some money at the same time. By incorporating the Scottish elements into your decor, you won't have to "create" as much yourself. Maybe that doesn't match your theme or vibe at all. But if I had picked that place as my venue, it would have been at least in part because of the decor/atmosphere.

Like I said, I liked it when I picked out the place and now I don’t. I think I rushed into the decision because we only had 5 months to plan the wedding. I don’t have any ties to Scotland so it just feels weird to be getting married under a Scottish crest. Maybe I’m over thinking it though..
