Deciding on a Venue

Leslie, on October 27, 2020 at 8:55 AM Posted in New York Planning 0 7
Good morning ladies,

So I’m doing my nuptials in NYC or surrounding area that may work. I’m having 50-60 attendees hopefully they will all show but due to Covid nothing is really certain. I would like to find a Rustic; Farm or winery that may be affordable. All the charges they place in the venue before the actual meals or catering is crazy. Leaning towards just getting married at my friends backyard.. anyone find a great deal on a great venue? I needs help!! Also, have the venues been understanding about dates etc due to Covid?

What is your budget for venue + catering (including alcohol)?

We are trying to keep it under $10,000, however I’m being very frugal bc I’d rather go on a great honeymoon, lol.

To answer your question about the venues being lenient due to COVID, it really depends on the venue. Some venues allowed couples to postpone with no penalty, but others did not. Many couples have lost their deposits in order to postpone and/or were forced to keep their wedding on their original date because they couldn't afford to lose the deposit. I strongly suggest checking the cancellation/postponement policies of the venue, and book one that is a little more lenient.

    Thank you.
It’s terrible for these people not to be understanding during these trying times.

Ugh, it’s so difficult. I have a similar count and am having such a hard time finding something affordable. Maybe The Feast would be a good option. It’s a pretty popular venue, gorgeous views. I visited and it was a little too rustic for my fiancé’s taste. https://feastcaterers.com/

So, NYC is one of the priciest places to get married.

DH and I managed a roughly $30k budget, and that's *half the average for NYC*.

It CAN be done, but you need to be really flexible, open to off beat ideas, and willing to simplify.

Try the "Venues" tab, above, first, but also consider a restaurant or a community hall. (Keep in mind that catering in to a blank space can often be more expensive than all-inclusive, when you do the math.)

    Good luck!
