December wedding date

Sarah, on July 2, 2018 at 9:42 AM Posted in Planning 0 10
Hello all!

My fiancé and I are deciding between December 20 and December 27 for our wedding date. We understand both are during the holiday season, but I am in PA school and winter break is really the only time we can have the wedding without waiting until next summer.

Does anybody who has had a December wedding have any advice on having the wedding before or after Christmas? My thought was post Christmas because there tends to be a lull between Christmas and New Years but I’m not sure?

I would think that after Christmas would be easier. That last weekend before Christmas people tend to be busy with last minute shopping or parties.

I would think that if they want to come they will come either weekend. Give them plenty of notice so that they can make arrangements.

I agree with this - those days before Christmas are nuts!!! Go with the 28th!

Hey, Sarah! Smiley heart I think that the 28th would be easier in terms of getting the Christmas rush done with and filling up that time between Christmas and NYE, like you said! Also, if your school schedule is anything like mine, it'd be nice to have an extra week after finals and such Smiley xd

I think the 28th sounds great! We are also doing a December wedding (this year), and we settled on either doing a few weeks before Christmas, or the week after because people get really busy the few days before! We went with December 8th. Post-Christmas is also fun because you can still do holiday/winter themed wedding, OR you could do a New Years' themed wedding! Or neither, as themes aren't necessary, but they're both cool options!

I'd probably go for December 20. People are generally out of town for the 25-31 or at least have other commitments.

I was in the same boat -- PT student here! We did December 30th last year and it was great. I think before would have been too crazy, and people would have declined due to other family plans!
