Trying to keep the budget below $4k and more of a cozy, stay-at-home cabin vibe!

Where are you traveling from? Somehow, Malibu doesn't evoke cozy cabin vibes! What about Lake Tahoe CA/NV or Park City, Utah? Sun Valley, ID? Aspen/Vail, CO?

Maybe Malibu has some nice resorts. Probably check out Coronado Beach Resort in San Diego instead of Malibu. There may be some house rentals near the resort in San Diego. The previous post has other good places.
There are also cabins in Lake Arrowhead or Big Bear ... or Idyllwild in the So Cal area. Might have early snow if that appeals.

If you're looking for cozy cabin vibe, you might check Table Rock Lake, Missouri; Gatlinburg, Tennessee; or in the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina.
