December Brides

Hi all,
I live in NY and I’m suppose to have my wedding 12-20-2020. We now have restrictions on weddings. We are only aloud 50 people, no drinking or dancing. (Pretty much no wedding) I’m so sad and my venue wants me to have a back up date just to be safe. I’m so upset and need some advice. What are you all December brides doing?!?

December is still a bit away, and some things may change.

That said, a lot of people are postponing... or switching to games and other entertainment. However, if dancing is important to you, I suggest postponing.

Hi Jordan! It's definitely tough, but some of those restrictions are going to be around for a long time! I'd definitely expect no dancing and smaller guest sizes for awhile!

Here are a few discussions I've spotted where you can connect with other December couples about your wedding plans: 2020 Covid Brides!, December wedding - postpone or no?, and ny December 2020 Brides - Stress Out Together.

I would definitely wait until October and then make a decision. Things could change little by little.

I’m hoping so. No dancing at a wedding is not a wedding.

Plenty of weddings have no dancing.

It a plan B would make you feel better, start coming up with alternatives.

I had my wedding scheduled for Dec 4, 2020 (after postponing from May 24, 2020). We decided to postpone again to Nov 21, 2021. It’s hard to have my family and friends who live out of state and with the wedding size restriction in place to attend. Our venue contract was for 165 people.

Also to weigh in the potential fact that family from out of state could possibly be an asymptomatic superspreader if they don’t quarantine for 14 days. I just couldn’t take the chance of anyone contracting covid from the wedding.. there’s too much guilt.
For any Fall/Winter brides, I highly suggest you to reach you to your vendors to explore the possibility of rescheduling. Even when I reached out to my vendors- dates in 2021 were very very limited given many weddings from 2020 were rescheduled to 2021.
Best of luck to everyone going through this stressful time.

I'm in Georgia! I didn't realize this was a New York forum. My apologies
