December 11, 2020 - Ups, downs, and too many what ifs

December 2020 weddings, how are we feeling?
One day I’m positive that by December our wedding will happen no question. Then the next day everything seems so discouraging.
My fiancé and I got engaged last thanksgiving and in December (2019) we picked a wedding date in September 2020. However, in January we realized my finance was going to need a major surgery that was scheduled for June (that’s still happening thankfully). A September wedding was too soon considering the recovery and physical therapy he would need. So we decided to postpone and picked December 11, 2020. When the pandemic was declared and lockdowns started (we’re in NY) I was relieved we’d already made the decision to push our date back a few months. Now this uncertainty and wondering of if anything in 2020 will happen as planned is stressing me out and I find myself looking up reports and new information all the time. What’s everyone else doing for the end of this year?

December 12th wedding here!! I’m in PA and still going forward as planned. I hope that in 7 months things will be better and more under control. We won’t make a decision until October/November if possible. Holding onto some hope🤞🏻😊

🤞🏻 fingers crossed! Staying hopeful is rough. I need help with it now lol I think we’ll wait until September to make a definite call. And then if we have to cancel just have something small.
    Good luck!

Yes!! Just trying to stay away from watching the news because no one really knows what it’s going to be like 7 months from now. Especially since we’ll be going into warmer weather soon. Thank you!! Good luck to you too!!🤞🏻😊

I'm December 5th and in NY also. So far we are moving forward but trust me I go back and forth every day as well. While I know we won't be back to normal in December (I honestly don't think we will be back to normal until end of 2021/early 2022), I am hopeful that things will be significantly better than they are now and we'll be able to have our wedding (even if it's a little smaller than we anticipated)! I'm waiting until August/September to make a decision (my venue said they aren't postponing anything in the fall yet since there is still so much time). We just have to stay positive and hope for the best!

It’s so good to hear from other people experiencing the same as we are. Our venue is also going forward with the Fall so far. It’s a waiting game (and I don’t have a lot of patience)

I’m Dec 5. I’ve been fine up until today & I had major anxiety over our wedding possibly not happening on our date. But I vented to a friend and feel better; I’m telling myself that a lot can change in 7 months. We will not begin to come up with a back up plan until September or october if necessary.

    December 12th, 2020 postponed from June 27th, 2020.

We think December will be fine. We might have a smaller guest count but overall we both and our families feel like things will be back to "normal" by December. It is still too far away to tell for sure but that's any event in life, you just never know when anything can happen. All you can do is make your plans and hope for the best. We rebooked our honeymoon cruise for January last week and are working on our "winterization" of our wedding decor and overall feel.

I would keep planning for the best!!

    Thanks!
Good luck with your wedding plans! I had to winterize mine as well moving from early September. It turned out to be kind of fun. I kept my baby blue bridesmaid skirts and added fur wraps. My flowers were white with greenery so we added some pine and spruce. And for favors I’m handing out blankets “to have and to hold in case you get cold”. Now I’m excited for a December celebration!

December 12th bride here! We are still on as scheduled but we are discussing backup plans. Trying to find colors that will work for more than one season.

    Hi Erica,

There's so much happening (or not) right now. If you're like me, your feelings can range from relief (that you're safe at home or that your wedding is still 8 months away) to stress that there's so much uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and our return to normalcy. It's a lot!

So it's okay to be nervous or worried at times. You certainly are not alone. Here's a recent discussion with other December brides: Wedding is December 2020. Should we consider cancelling?
