Daytime wedding & reception

Tobe, on October 4, 2018 at 1:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
So I'm getting married March of 2020 and we plan on having a early wedding and reception. I'm trying to figure out how to pull it all off. As far as the reception do I do a DJ or do I do another type of music? Technically it won't be dinner time so I'm not sure which way to go as far as food goes 🤔 So many decisions to make good thing my fiancee' and I have time.

If it’s brunch or lunch time you definitely need to serve a full meal. The only time you don’t need to serve a full meal is if you got married at 1 or 2 and your reception ended by 4 or 430. And DJ is a personal preference. If you want dancing I would recommend a DJ!

We definitely would have the wedding at 1 or 2 and reception starting around 3pm. So technically that's after lunch but somewhat before dinner.

We are having our ceremony at noon and reception starts at 1:45 so lunch will be served between 2 and 2:30. You may want to alter your timeline a bit... we originally thought of doing a 1pm ceremony but that leaves people eating at around 3 or 3:30 which is too late for lunch and too early for dinner.

If you did a noon ceremony you could have lunch at 2 or 2:30 like we are, or if you wanted later and did a 2pm or 3pm ceremony you could have your reception start around 4 or 4:30 and then serve food at 5ish... but at that point, you’d be serving dinner

Oh a brunch wedding sounds like fun. For food I'd say a mix between breakfast and lunch. Maybe some quiche and some sandwiches and mimosas 😉. I would also say DJ because who doesn't love to dance anytime of day?

I'm also getting married in 2020! Only in May.

We are getting married at a brewery from 2-6. We will have plenty of food. I plan on making a playlist, but I don’t expect typical wedding reception dancing. Maybe I’m way off base on this and it is expected. If I’m getting that vibe we can always pull something off of Spotify.

We are having our ceremony start at 11:30am-12pm. With the cocktail hour immediately following.
    Reception from 1-5pm
We are serving brunch, and having "open cocktails" and beer. Mimosas, sangria and Pina colada. We are giving donuts or oversized muffins as favors. And having a dj. Whether people dance or not is up to them.

My make up and hair will start around 7:30am. Luckily they are coming to our hotel where the wedding is going to be.
