Day wedding anxiety

Morgan, on June 2, 2019 at 1:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 6
Our invitations just went out for our wedding on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, and there’s been people on my FH’s side who have been pretty judgmental about the fact that it’s a day wedding, instead of the standard evening wedding. The ceremony starts at 11:30, reception ends at 5, and we’re having an after party at the hotel, but people are still like “that’s too early”, “no one will want to drink or dance,” or “expect people to dress super casual” (even though the wedding I’ll be at a very upscale ballroom). There’s literally nothing we can do about timing at this point, and obviously we did this because it’s best for our budget, but I wanted to know what people’s experiences have been at day weddings. Was it still fun even if it didn’t have a night time atmosphere? I’ve never been to one myself so any insight would be helpful.

I've never been to one but my MOH has. She said they had a great time but her only complaint was that there was nothing to do after. You have a plan, so I think it will work out well! People will complain no matter what! Don't listen to them.

Most of the weddings I've been to have started 11:30-12ish and there's been just as much partying as later weddings. Honestly I feel like the venue has more to do with the vibe of the wedding than the time.

My Matron of honor I was in her wedding and it was at 12 or 1 I believe and it was a blast. Everyone partied all night long at the reception, (they has their venue for the whole day) but since y'all have an after party planned I bet you won't have any issues. I'm sorry your having all this judgment... people just don't think before they talk. I've NEVER been to a wedding and left thinking anything other than the things I liked about it. Just do what you like, well, that's what ive tried to do. I -pick what I like then if I'm unsure on something I ask my Maid or Matron or FH.
Don't let them get you down!

This is true, can't make everyone happy so just make you and FH happy!

I love Sunday brunch & a wedding on that day would be great! Plus, over that holiday weekend is great. Don’t fret, whomever attends your wedding is meant to be there and it will be fun. 🎉

I think that is a fantastic idea. i had considered this initially since i heard it was cheaper.

people can still drink and have fun even if it isn't in the night.
