Day of Wedding Coordinator Needed?

Emily, on June 11, 2019 at 8:02 PM Posted in Planning 0 6

I have been to many weddings some with day of coordinators but allot without. All of the weddings I have attended have ran pretty smoothly which makes it hard for me to tell if I need one or not. My coworkers are encouraging me to budget in a coordinator so that myself and my family will have a more stress free day.

I am not 100% sure what a day of wedding coordinators role is.

Did you guys hire a coordinator for your wedding? How has your experience with them been?

Our Venue came with a day of coordinator and im so glad it did. She made sure everyone was in place. She made sure everything ran smoothly. She let everyone know when it was their time to march out. She made sure the bride and groom
ate and had drinks. She was by the dj introducing the bridal party and followed the timeline to the T (when it was time for first dance, cut cake, throw bouquet) I was too busy having fun and would have seriously forgotten about all of that. She went above and beyond.

I think they are probably great and super helpful, but I sure as heck can't afford one, so I am going to just have to be alright without one. However, I am pretty organized and have my timeline figured out and my bridal party is super helpful as well. The day should move along quite smoothly. I think you can totally get away without having one as long as you have a few people around that day to help you keep everything straight.

I hired a “day of” coordinator for my wedding in October. He told me that his job is to make sure I’m happy, make sure my guests are happy, make sure my vendors behave and to put fires out. That all sounds good to me!

We're getting a month-of-coordinator, who has given us planning software to use, recommended vendors, and checked in every month. We'll start meeting monthly in person soon, and at one month out she'll take over all the coordination. When we considered all the moving parts that had to come together, we decided we either needed to pay someone professional to handle it, or our parents/wedding party/friends would be swamped helping set up, keep an eye on the timeline and such, and tear down. That didn't seem fair to them, and I like knowing that someone who really knows that they're doing will be handing things. I think you can get by without one, but it probably means you or someone else will be running around a lot in the background.

I did hire one but not for coordinating the reception. I only hired them to set up. I will be at ceremony at 5 and venue for reception opens at 430 for set up but reception behind at 6 so... I hired someone with an assistant to set up for me
