Day of Timeline

Tiffany, on September 15, 2020 at 12:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

So I tried searching forums and couldn't find the answer to my question.

Our wedding is 10/3 and we put on our invitations to arrive at 4. Last night we had a phone call with our DJ and he went through everything and set up a timeline from the start of when guests arrive to the end of the night. So that part is done.

My dilemma comes in for the moments prior to the ceremony. Hair, makeup, first look, etc. My MUA is asking for a timeline so she knows when to show up. I have a planner but she said she typically only works with the DJ to form a timeline for the ceremony and reception. Who is supposed to help me with the timeline for hair, makeup and first look? Does anyone have any suggestions on how that timeline should look? At what point do I need to bring the photographer into the mix?

Help!

Your photographer should be helping you with this. Mine gave me a timeline based off of our ceremony time as well as her coverage hours.

For example, we're doing a First Look at 1:30, Wedding Party/Bride & Groom Portraits between 2 and 4, and then the ceremony starts at 4:30.

I gave that information to my MUA and hair stylist, and working backwards with the time for all the bridesmaids, we're starting hair and makeup at 8:30.

Your MUA should tell you how much time she needs to do all of the services you have scheduled. Your photographer should also be able to help you get together a timeline.

Our photographer showed up 1 hour before ceremony start time, took pictures of the guys, did detail shots (I had everything laid out for him), got all of the dresses, got me getting into the dress, then went to the ceremony site just ahead of me and my entourage. If you have a first look, obviously you’ll have to be ready earlier. Discuss with your photographer what kind of getting ready pictures you are wanting and they can give you an idea of how much time they will need to accomplish that.

Our photographer and planner came up with our timeline. I would reach out to your photographer about this.

I made up my own timeline based on the allotted time it takes from each HAMU lady. After I got the HANU timeline done and talked to my photographer about what time she wanted to show up to start with her timeline. It all just fell in place. Here is my finalized timeline plus a breakdown of HAMU just to show you an example. Hope it helps.Day of Timeline 1

Contact your photographer, they should definitely help with the first look.

My hair and makeup artist made my timeline for their purposes of when to get ready based on when I said I wanted everyone to be done. We can go to the venue an hour and a half before the wedding so I told them I wanted them done half an hour before that so we could get to the venue and take some pictures after we are dressed before the ceremony.
