Day of coordinator!?

Tiffany, on September 10, 2019 at 8:09 AM Posted in Planning 0 11
I’m planning my entire wedding without a planner, but is it worth it to hire a day of coordinator? My venue has someone designated to me the entire day, but I’m not sure if it’s enough?

It depends on what tasks your venue's coordinator will cover. I would take a look at your contract or reach out to them and ask. The coordinators at many venues in our area don't do set up or tear down. That itself would be worth it to me to hire a DOC.

I think having a DOC is worth it, but if the venue is providing you with one then that should do just fine. I would definitely get in touch with them to see what is and isn't included in that service. Our DOC will be taking care of setup/cleanup, calling all vendors the week of the wedding to verify everything, meeting with the vendors when they arrive on the wedding day, handling any problems that aren't big enough to bother the bride with, ushering our guests from ceremony area to reception area, and also keeping the bar stocked since we are providing our own alcohol.

I think they're worth it. I didn't plan on it at first either but I went with it after I realized it would save me a lot of headaches

I’m not having a bridal party so I asked my best friend to serve as DOC. I’m early stages of planning but already it makes me feel assured that she can help
me out with stuff on that day.

Set up and tear down are big ones. See if your venue’s coordinator will assist with them.

I planned my whole wedding and just had the coordinator from the venue for the day of my wedding. I also assigned a friend to the contact for everything that day and she helped handle things. I didn’t hire a DOC and things were just fine. Waste of Kirby if you ask me.

We have a coordinator and he is the best person on the planet. We had a meeting with him yesterday to go over our day of timeline. it took 2.5 hours. that's how much detail goes into it. i think it will really help you mentally to have someone in charge of everything so you can relax. every chance we have to meet with ours, i can feel the stress leaving as we talk and plan. totally worth it!

We just hired our DOC and its taken the stress of who will clean up after the wedding off of our shoulders as well as who will move things around if things have to be changed for the ceremony in case it rains since we are having our wedding at a community center and I really want an outdoor wedding if it doesn't rain and community center wont do any changes once they set up the chairs and tables.

The owner of our venue said she would act as our DOC to ensure everything runs smoothly. But that didn't include set up or tear down or cleaning. So for a small fee we hired the ones the venue has on staff if you so choose. I also asked a good friend of mine to be a point person for me so that I don't have to deal with the little issues that are going to pop up.

Just remember that person works for the venue and not you

Honestly, the coordinator has been worth every penny we've paid her. This is my second marriage and she has already made this process so much simpler. Decorators? Don't need. Timelines? Done. Vendors? Taken care of. I know I will not regret it when the day gets here as she has been so much help from the start.
