Day of Coordinator

Kora, on September 9, 2019 at 3:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
I am very interested in a DOC.. I know that I will not be able to do everything myself (obviously)

Thoughts or input on DOC? And typically how many hours do you need them? Cost? (I live in southern California)
Thank you!!

I didn't plan on having a DOC, but I'm VERY glad I reconsidered. Just thinking about it, I don't know what I was thinking I was going to do without one. She's going to call all of my vendors the week of to ensure everything is squared away, she'll be responsible for set up and clean up, ushering my guests from the ceremony location to reception location (same venue), running cocktail hour in terms of photos with our second photographer of guests and the guest book, keeping drinks stocked and cooled (stocking our own bar), and basically taking care of any crisis that doesn't require me to know about it (unless it's something super serious like the groom is missing Smiley xd ).

She does this part-time so I know I got her for a much lower price than most. We have her the entire day for $400, plus all that she's doing for me before the day of.

I am not planning on having a DOC, but have solicited the help of my FSIL. We are on a very tight timeline as there is a wedding in our venue the morning of and therefore we cannot get in until later than I'd like.. but my FSIL is VERY detailed oriented, so I have entrusted her with the little things our venue won't be able to do by contract.. In the end, she is saving me some money and she LOVES wedding planning so it's a win-win.

I'm in SoCal too. I had a quote from a DOC for "month of coordination". She wouldn't do less than that since she claimed she needed to contact all the vendors and set up meetings with the venue (everything I could have done for free). She insisted on putting together a timeline (I already have one), having 3 assistants for day of, and running the rehearsal. She quoted me almost $2,000 based on an expected guest list of 250. I tried to lower the cost by only having her at the reception hall, for 8 hours just for set up and the first couple hours of the reception and no rehearsal. It only lowered the cost to $1400. I scrapped the idea because all my vendors are amazing and coordinated on their own. I really only needed her to set up decor and put out favors. My florist told me she was already going to take care of that so I saved a few thousand.

DOC is a must in my opinion. And I am very strict on my budget. They are worth every penny to not be stressed on your wedding day. Mine will be doing full set up, teardown, full coordination with all my vendors and making sure all of our personal things get back to us before the end of the night. Only 1800 for her and her team including them flipping our ceremony space into the reception

I'm in Denver, we paid $1,000 for our DOC and it was worth it. It was super nice to have someone set up all our decor and take care of everything.

I think a DOC is a must have. It takes the stress off of you and keeps your day running smoothly. Our is also our planner, so I’m not sure of price for just DOC, but I’d assume around $1000.

I had a tough time finding a DOC! They all wanted to be full on wedding planners. I was lucky to have a friend who knew someone who would do it. She’s working about 12 hours that day and I’m paying her $1000. She greeting vendors, decorating, coordinating timing and cleaning up. It’s a big job and I’m grateful to have her!

I’m having a day off coordinator take over at the reception since the church already has a wedding coordinator. If you have someone that can help rehearse the ceremony and make sure everyone is in order then you can consider hiring a coordinator just for the reception time. It’s a must for me! I want all my family to enjoy and don’t want them falling shower on the job by trying to manage coordinating and partying. I also don’t want to be stressed with logistics the day of !

Wow! I am blessed to have such great connections. So the venue was going to provide a DOC for 850$. However, a good friend of my cousin's who I also know is in the wedding industry. She does linen and chairs and knows a lot about the wedding culture in Tampa, Fl. She has agreed to be my DOC but has added sooooo much more. She is reviewing all contracts, working with my bridal party, answering any questions and once I pay her, 750$( I plane to give her more) she will assume position.

We're having our coordinator do month-of-coordination, so she's basically in charge of everything from last week until the wedding next month. I think a DOC is really essential - they'll do set up and tear down, make sure the vendors are all there on time, make sure the wedding goes smoothly, and most importantly - do the jobs that otherwise you and your family/friends would have to do. I don't want to have to do any of that stuff on my wedding day, and I also definitely don't want to make my guests work. We're paying about $1,200 for her, and she'll be bringing an assistant for the wedding day.
