Day of Coordinator

Brianna, on October 22, 2022 at 7:19 AM Posted in Planning 0 5
Is anyone getting a day of coordinator? I’m on the fence about it. With our venue, they will set up all the tables, chairs, and linens inside the reception as well as the benches outside for the ceremony. We are responsible for any decorations. We can’t get into the venue until 9am, which makes it hard for me since I have to immediately start getting ready.
Would just like others opinions.
Thanks in advanced!

We have a coordinator and she's been fantastic! If you won't have time to set up decorations, that would be a great area to have someone who could step in and handle things. Plus then you're not worried about corralling people for pictures, trying to give the florist directions because the GPS took them someplace else, etc. I was totally fine to do the planning, vetting vendors, etc., but it's been great having someone handle putting together the timeline and dealing with finalizing everything.

I got a day of coordinator, and it was the best decision!! She took care of SO many details throughout the whole wedding day, and she truly made our day easy. I didn't have to worry about much. She coordinated our rehearsal, helped quickly fasten the buttons on my dress (would have taken the rest of us an hour lol), setup our centerpieces, received the rentals/flowers/cake/anything else that was delivered to the venue for us the morning of our wedding, kept the timeline on track, gathered items for detail shots for our photographer and videographer, tracked down everyone who was needed for photos, ensured that no one got a microphone during speeches unless they were on the (very short) list that we gave her, and more. It took a lot of stress off of me, and I was able to just enjoy the day and celebrate instead of taking care of each of those tasks.

    Get a day-of coordinator.

I was the MOH and de facto day-of coordinator at my cousins wedding, I was so tired at the end that I went home early. Someone inevitably has to take on the role to keep you from dealing with everything. If you don’t get one you’ll have to sacrifice yourself and your time or one of your bridesmaids.
That experience made me get one for my own wedding even though the venue has an event coordinator. They serve different functions - the venue coordinator is concerned about the venue logistics while the day of coordinator is looking after your logistics by assuring the venue coordinator is adhering to your expectations.

I had a day of coordinator and it was the best decision I made for this entire wedding process because they did not let me stress about ANYTHING. I was cool, calm, and able to enjoy every second of my wedding day. They dealt with all the other things that came up and everyone asking what time is this and that etc. Even without me knowing all questions etc were diverted to them. They literally took care of everything that day. Even when the night was over they packed all our stuff into bins and put them in our suite, had my first dress in there hung in the closet etc. They were just exceptional. I HIGHLY recommend one.

The last thing I want to worry about on my wedding day is setting up or worrying who is lighting the candles. I also do not want to worry about the vendors that day. Right before we had a phone call with the day of coordinator I asked my fiancé if he had any questions for her. His reply was “if you say we need one, then we need one.” After we hung up he said “ I didn’t realize how much she will do and how much we need her.”. I would recommend one, even with a venue coordinator. A venue coordinator is for the venue, a day of coordinator is for you.
