Day of coordinator cost

Nadia, on November 5, 2016 at 11:02 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 27

I've been getting quotes for day of coordination and I just received one for $1900. Is that about average? This is for a wedding in Lake Tahoe.

How big is your wedding? Can you ask from shorter coverage?

In my area, "day of" coordination really meant "month of" coordination. $1800-$2200 was pretty average.

That isn't the average in my area but it may be because of the area you are looking at. You may want extend the area you are searching in. Paying someone to travel from a different area may end up being a little less expensive and it wouldn't hurt to look.

It generally does mean month of, and in my area (nj/ny) the range is **** for someone good.

For an inexperienced planner or someone new? It's a waste of money at any price.

Yeah it is " month of"; I want to do it but it seems like so much money. My wedding is about 90 people.

Keep looking, we got quotes anywhere from $900 to $2500. Look at what all they include and how many hours because some do a lot more than others. We actually went with the one that was the lowest, she is just starting her business and has only done it for like 3 years but she had great reviews and actually included more than the expensive ones.

Seeing that yours is almost DW, it might be worth it. I was very busy and frequent at my venue and meeting all my vendors the last month of the wedding. They also can't meet you on the weekends because they have other weddings.

    Some things to consider.

Have you checked with your venue if they have a coordinator for additional fees? Normally is a better deal.

Try going to bridal shows maybe or see if one of the resorts has someone out there.

I have a DOC that comes with my venue, and haven't decided if I will go beyond that or not. It's good to have especially with a DW!

I got a couple of quotes and they varied between $1,000-2,000 in Seattle.

Yeah my venue doesn't have a DOC and they said that 50% of weddings that they have don't have one at all.

Mine is $500, but we're considered 'off-season' and it's a super small wedding (22 people). I was quoted at $1200 by other vendor, though.

If you have not chosen a venue yet... some include it in the cost of the venue. It would be something good to look into and ask about while looking at venues. Also, some venues offer a lot of set-up and take-down, so you would have a lot less to worry about if you did not hire a DOC.

My venue does not have a DOC and they do the set-up and take-down ( including name tags, menus, favors, whatnot).
