Day of coordinator, a waste of money?

Candy, on December 22, 2017 at 10:40 PM Posted in Planning 1 39
I got quoted $700 for an entire day for a day of coordinator. My soon to be mother in law and sister in law (who is a bridesmaid) told me how silly it was to hire someone for extra help.
They stated that the tasks should be done by my bridal party.
I really do not agree with them, as the bridal party is just that. They were not asked to accomplish wedding day duties. They are there because they are my most special ladies in my life.
I just want my loved ones to enjoy themselves, not be my employee.
I’m curious, how many people are hiring a day of coordinator?

It depends on what needs to be done. My venue did all set up, line. Rentals where through them, liquor, etc. if I had to set up, coordinate rentals I would hire one.

I would 100% recommend using one ! I had a friend who had a DOC through her venue and she pretty much only kept everything on schedule. Didn't help with the decorating, center pieces, etc. which left the MOB running around last minute in a panic. Might have just been that venue but I'm definitely having one the day of mine. Good luck!

I definitely will be hiring one if it doesn't come with my venue. I don't want me or my loved ones running around when something doesn't go perfectly. I want to enjoy my day with them all by my side.

A day of coordinator is crucial, IMO. our coordinators handled all three room set ups, the other vendors, kept us on time, and all we had to do was enjoy our day with family and friends. We paid $800; we got discounts for a show price and from a referral.

They will really help make your day special.. I think they are a must. If anything goes wrong they'll be in charge and fix it before you even know about it *that's if they are good lol*

My venue has one and I hired one that will have my best interest not the hotels. Just because I don’t want anyone or myself worried about a small detail that was overlooked. Just for my own Peace of mind really.

You should definitely get one and $700 sounds like a good deal mine was $1000.

If you are getting one for $700 then you’re lucky. I just talked to one I know to get a quote and it was $1500!

We 100% can’t afford that and my family and friends are insistent that I don’t need one and that they will help. But if we weren’t already putting 1/2 the wedding on credit cards than I’d totally be getting one.

Im on a relatively tivht bidget but you bet i paid the 750 for my doc. I don't want to be cleaning up trash or setting up centerpieces in my wedding dress.

Hire.a.DOC. if their price doesn't fit your budget, keep looking. Personally I'm a planner by nature so when I turned everything over to her, I was less stressed. Things went wrong and some elements were missed but not important that it took away from our vision , but I didn't know until later. She took care of those issues plus she had an assistant. Actually I hired a month of coordinator. She was awesome. Best money spent imo.

I honestly don’t see the need for one, and I am very curious as to why so many people think it’s crucial. Maybe my venue being inclusive just makes it easier, but I would never think to spend money on a DOC.

I'm hiring a day of coordinator. I need someone to make sure the day flows and a point of contact for things. I don't want family working the day of my wedding. Don't listen to them. The quote for the day for $700 isn't bad at all. You want regret hiring someone.

I didn't have one and don't regret not getting one. But we didn't really decorate for the ceremony and minimal decorations at the venue. The ceremony was at our local church, so we were able to set out the flowers and candles the day or so before. Also, we only had centerpieces at the venue and the venue coordinator took care of that. For clean-up at the venue, we put everything on one table and picked up the decorations the next morning. Our budget did not have room for a DOC, but we really didn't need one. I created a timeline, shared it with the BP and our photographer, and we all stuck to it ourselves.

I was quoted $600 for a DOC in Arkansas, but I chose the full blown coordinator because I wanted help choosing the right vendors. A coordinator of some sorts was an absolute must for us

$700 for a DOC is a steal! They START at $1500 in DC. Mine was $2200.
