DAY-OF-COORDINATION?? Cost??

LutaWolf, on September 9, 2010 at 1:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 23

I'm in AL and I realize that cost is going to not be the same every where but if I could just have a general idea so I'd know if I could even fit it into the budget. I originally wasn't going to but then I got to thinking and I really don't want to deal with any sh*t that day. If something goes up in smoke, I don't want it to have to be my decision as to what we do lol.

$500 was the cheapest I found here. The range was $500 to about $800.

I was quoted (by the coordinator I had before, who is no longer my coordinator lol) $700 for "day-of" coordinator services. She was the person who was doing all the pre-wedding coordination for the venue I was going to use before... they do all the pre-planning free, but the day of they leave to to die if you don't pay them 700 bucks!!! Oh-ELL-NO!

Another lady, who was really nice and had a small event organizing business quoted me $150 for the first hour, then $50 for every consecutive hour after that. These are CA prices.

Here's is another idea, make a list of all your vendors, in time order of events, and ask a trusted friend or relative, to call in advance to confirm; then to call as needed should issues arise.

Ours was included with our venue package, but I've also seen it included with florist packages and things like that. Why don't you try checking out places that tend to do everything from dresses to cakes to flowers (the one-stop-shops) and see what they are charging.

I am with you! I was not considering having one b/c I think they are expensive but right now I don't think anyone in either BP or family seems to be wanting (nor volunteering) to help the day of.

I've given my stepfather the day of duties. I figured that I wanted to make him feel included and it would also make my mom happy. I decided to just give him a time line of the events and sort of ask him to try to keep things on that schedule.

I charge $780 for "day of" which is really way more than that. I create a timeline that is down to the minute, answer any and all questions beforehand, help source what ever the bride needs, run the rehearsal, and am there to set up and through clean up with an assistant. I'm based outside of the Seattle area.

BTW - lots of people are supposedly going to "help me" the day of - if they show up at all, its usually 30 minutes before the ceremony, when everything is already done. so be very particular in delegating. Find the person who is the most Martha-Sterart-like of your friends - you know the one who has cleaned up your kitchen behind then scenes when you had a party - and she's you gal.

Girls all I have to say is day of coordinators are worth every dollar they earn. Just think you and your entire family can go and enjoy the day with no stress or worries.

I have 3 Day of packages and they start at $600. But that's for brides who are at full-service venues (hotels and such). My highest Day-of Package is $1200 and that includes working with brides beginning at least 1 month in advance to ensure that all the ducks are in a row. But the prices vary greatly out here. I recently saw one Coordinator who's Day-of Package started at $400 (I have no idea what was included. But for such a low price, she might show up 1 hr before the ceremony and leave 30 minutes early- LOL!) Another Coordinator in VA charges $1925 (she must do everything including going to the restroom FOR the bride and all of the bridal party!)

Hiring a Day-of person is definitely the way to go. You don't want to deal with headaches on your special day. It's all about YOU on that day, not about you running around like crazy if the limo or the DJ are late. They are def worth the freedom to enjoy your day. Just shop around to find the best one that fits your personality.

Personally, I would never pay for a day of coordinator. A lot of venues have them for free. My wedding planner, who did everything from day 1, was only $630

I'm at a beach house so no actual coordinator comes to with the venue and there are going to be glitches, I know there will be cause well my family is crazy and I don't want to be the one to deal with them. If someone goes to FS, he'll send them to me and I'll end up cussing a blue streak while screaming for a cig when I'm trying to quit. lol hope that made since to you. So hopefully I can find someone in my budget. I'm not trying to short cut any one but you know what I mean.

Our caterer had several major screw ups, and the owner told me that it was my fault because I didn't have a wedding coordinator there to make sure that they didn't screw up! I unfortunately refused to buy her crap and insisted on a big refund and she did give me the refund. But I thought it was kind of funny that she acted like no one has a wedding without a pro coordinator, so maybe you do need one if you have an a$$hole caterer.

We are wedding planners in NYC. our day-of is $500 and you get two of us. We are very affordable in comparison to others.

Even if the venue has a coordinator, they are not going to be taking care of anything other than the food, drink and their venue.... they work for the reception hall not you!! They won't help you while getting ready, they won't coordinate your limos, photographer, bouquets, ceremony cues or anything else you may have planned outside the reception hall.

Make sure you get to meet with your coordinator ahead of time to make sure your personalities mesh. Get a review or referral from a past client of theirs.

Wow....I think I'm the cheapest around.

I work in the N. FL/S. GA area, and my day-of prices start at $250 and go up from there based on what the bride needs done. If it's just getting her vendors in and out; confirming them the day before; ensuring the WP is dressed, looks decent, and is in order; sending them down the aisle in the proper order; and moving guests from the ceremony to the reception (because a lot of brides in my area use the same facility for both), then I charge bare minimum. It just all depends on what the bride's needs are and how much cow manudah (lol) I have to stomp through to make her dream day...well...her dream day.

All my close friends that are anal enough to do it (that wasn't meant as an offence to anyone but you know you have to be tough and organized to do this job) is in my wedding party. Go figure huh!
