David's Bridal Selection??? (I'm apparently picky :-P)

Cassie, on January 4, 2015 at 6:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 33

So I'm starting to worry about getting a dress, being 6 months away from my wedding (yes, I know I'm being "last minute"). I got a coupon for $50 off at DB, so am considering going there, but I looked online, and didn't see anything I liked (I'm normally not a picky person, but I am apparently SUPER picky when it comes to wedding dresses, cuz I seem to hate everything). Does David's Bridal have more selection in store than online? Is it worth going there?

(Thinking of going to the Rockville one if you're local to DC). Thanks!

I live in NoVA and traipsed around all the boutiques in Old Town. Didn't find anything, so my bridesmaid dragged me to the DB in Springfield. They were great at that location. They have the same selection in stores, but the one thing I learned is dresses look much different in person than online.

I agree with Sunshine. I went to DB with my friend and the dresses looked much better on her than in the pics. I say give it a try

They don't have more selection in the store. It is more likely less. BUT, I will say that I went to lots of other stores first and DB was my "last resort" and in the end I wished I had gone there first because I found more things that fit me and looked nice there than anywhere else I went.

I recommend making the trip just to try on styles. It'll at least help narrow down what style you like.

OK, thanks! I appreciate it. Yea, I was wondering if I should bother going around all the small bridal shops. I figure they would probably be more expensive though.

I didn't go there for my wedding dress but did for bridesmaid dresses. It may be because I was just there for the bridesmaid dresses, but we basically got NO attention from our attendant when we went both times, and once was on a Thursday night when the only other people in the store were two brides. The second time we went was for junior bridesmaid dresses and the only thing the attendant did was tell us if the five dresses we'd picked out came in our color and then order it for us when we walked up to the register. I think they may have a larger selection, but maybe just keep in mind to go on a not very busy day or be aware that you may not get much individualized attention like you would in a boutique store.

Yea they definitely don't look the same once they're on. Mine is a mermaid style and has like... Roughing all the way down to the knees and then it tails out. I hate roughing. Hate it. But when I put it on, I fell in love. Still hate roughing lol

The bridal shops depend on your budget. The ladies that helped me at Ellie's were really nice, and they had a pretty good selection of samples in my size (12-14 gown size). The next place I went to, I think on King St, had TWO. And they were assholes. My best experience was at DB. I even changed my mind twice after purchasing and they let me exchange it each time.

I didn't think I loved anything from their site, either. But I went and tried on different style because they seem to have the most options- and BAM.. found my dress! Bought it yesterday Smiley smile

Just give it a chance- and don't forget to try on things that you would normally over look. EVERYTHING looks different on than on the hanger. Good luck!

Go in and trust the people working there to put you in a dress that'll look great on you. I went to AA and I was dead-set against a strapless mermaid top until the girl convinced me to try it. Fell in love and that's my dress! Be open to suggestions - they know what they're doing. Good luck!

I think at least going in and trying the dresses on is a good start (a lot of dresses look better in person). I have been to the Rockville location as well as Springfield and out of the two I feel like the ladies at the Rockville location definitely give you more attention Smiley smile

I was the same with DB, I didn't really like many. I had to really try to find dresses online that I wanted to try on. In the end there was a dress I didn't see online (I just missed it somehow) that I saw on the rack and it was beautiful! It was definitely a top contender. My only problem with DB dresses though were that I loved long trains and it seemed like none of the dress trains were long enough. Also I felt like I had seen half of the dresses already from WW or Facebook friends. It ended up I didn't get the dress I liked from there, but then later I saw two people post pictures of their wedding on Facebook where the bride wore the dress I almost got. I was so glad I decided not to get my dress there because I want a more unique dress and not something I already saw people with. Not that my guests would know, but I have more peace knowing that my dress isn't as common.

However with your short time schedule...DB dresses do usually come in faster (or you can buy off the rack). It's worth a shot.

I would have looked right over my dress if I based it off what it looks like online. Definitely go there and trust in it a little.

I decided to cut the budget for my dress in half, so I went to the one in Huntington Beach on a whim. I ended up liking several dresses. These are my top 3 choices:

I think its always better to go look in person than go online. But honestly, you can't really afford to wait any longer!

I loved certain things online and hated others. When I went into the store, I tried on things I hadn't seen and fell in love with one of the dresses I hated in pics. Go to the store.....ASAP.

I live in MD and went to the Glen Burnie one and found my dress! It seemed to me that the store had a bigger selection then online. I didn't see much I liked online, but fell in love with the ones the consultants put me in! I would go for it. Doesn't hurt to just see.

I would definitely go try dresses on. It's a lot of fun and you might light things that you didn't think you would like. There are also some online that I loved and when I put them on they looked terrible. You are getting short on time so I wouldn't wait too much longer.
