Davids Bridal, good place to go or bad?

Hey I was planning on going to Davids Bridal tomorrow to start looking at dresses. I believe they are having sales on dresses. Are their alterations badly priced, I wanna try and keep a resonable price limit..

Much since my dress was being discontinued and I wouldn't be able to get a smaller size than the one I had on.

I've heard horror stories, but I haven't experienced one. It just depends on where you are. I will be getting my alterations done locally though. DB is an hour and a half away, and I can't see making 3-4 trips for fittings if I have nothing else going on in that town.

It does depend on your location, but I feel like as a company they seriously lack---- I mean, seriously, if you have hundreds and thousands of locations and the customer service varies that greatly from location to location, you are doing something wrong.

I personally had a bad experience at a DB in Orange County. I had an appointment, showed up on time, no one greeted me, I waited 45 mins and then they were rude. On the phone I was told to create a wishlist online. Then in store I was told they can't pull it up. Another girl ended up doing it, so she printed my list but it never made it to the girl who ended up helping me. We waited for another 30 mins in the back of the store, while one bride tried on 5 dresses....then finally the salesperson came over and told me she pulled 3 dresses for me. (All wayyyyy different than my style). She tossed the undergarments to me and my friend over the door and said to come out when we got the first dress on.... (con't)

Ughhhh I had never put a dress on before! This was my first time..and everything she gave me was WAY too small (even though they did measure me that day). There was only one other bride in the store that day...yet no one could really help me. After 3 dresses I was pressured to buy the first..and I wasn't able to try anymore on because my appointment was only for an hour (yet the one other bride they had there left and my appointment technically was over before I began because of my wait time!) It actually got worse than this even...but I'm going to stop there. Bottom line is I was VERY disappointed and had no idea going in--I wish someone would have warned me, but at that point in time I wasn't into the forums and just didn't know!

My advice if you do go is do NOT expect a "say yes to the dress" experience and don't expect good customer service. That way, if it is good you will be happy! And don't give your real phone number or email because they WILL sell all your info even if you

Check the box that says "don't"

Sorry this was so long! I just know there are SOOOO many other shops that deserve business! I've never been so adamant against a company before lol.

I went to a DB with Analy here in the South Bay to look at some possible wedding dresses and BM dresses and they were some of the snootiest and rude people I've ever seen. Analy had an appointment that day for that time and they still wouldn't see to us. Hell, we got less snooty and more friendly service at Amy Kuschel ($2.5k-5k Couture wedding gown designer in downtown SF). B*tch, you're DB. You're across the street from Santana Row and Priscilla of Boston; You have no entitlement to be snooty.

Needless to say, I won't be going 100 ft anywhere near a DB when I go looking for my dress. D:

I'd suggest going, in order to see the difference between DB and a boutique bridal shop.

I'm just going to say this, would you rather shop at a place that is a wedding mill, that turns over bride after bride, just because they have the marketing budget? Or a store that the people working there are doing this sooo much that they started their own shop? Who is going to give you the best experience?

The one in Orlando was really good. They have good service there, but ask the price for alterations Smiley sad They can become very expensive.

Personally, Alterations from Davids Brial or Alfred Angelo ARE OUTRAGOUS!...for about a inch pull in...a heim of about 2 inches and my bustle costed me over 350 dollars! I got back for my fitting on wednesday and I have lost more weight so they might have to take it in more....so more money but if I have to I am going to call my moms friends and see if her mom can do it for a reasonable price because I can't do it with a rush fee on top of everything.

I had a fine experience there, but it was because I was GLAD they ignored me! My mom was with me and it allowed us to just do what we wanted with no pressure at all. the sales lady (who had a million other clients) would check in periodically and ask if we had questions so that was just the right amount of attention for us!

    .

My mom had not as great of an experience because we specifically asked the sales girl if the dress she wanted would be able to be ordered in a different size becuase it was on sale. After assuring us it would my mom tried it in a different color in two sizes, spent 20 minutes going back and forth about which size to get, to find out no, they couldn't order it!

    .

Alterations and accessories are sooooooooooo overpriced there. I'm convinced that's how they make their money, get you in with a cheap dress, charge $120 to hem a skirt line, and $50 for a barette!

I've had only an amazing experience there. They are really friendly and know my name when I come in for things.

Only bridal shop that didn't stare at me when I told them my size 28 possible, but I always asked if they carried 30's. And the girl helping me didn't seem to mind helping me get dressed--a few other fancier stores made me feel like there was something wrong with me and didn't want to touch me.

I found lots of dresses that fit well and I liked too.

And alterations were the best prices in my area--$20 for cups, $50 for a 5-point bustle, $15 for straps, and if I wanted a corset back it would be around $75-150. I went with them because the only other seamstress I could find that has ANY good reviews online was much more expensive.

I do agree with the too-expensive accessories. Clarie's is MUCH cheaper and with a wider selection. And you can get cheaper veils online.

I agree with the others about it being location dependent. I see you're in Lakewood. I went to the Freehold store for a BM dress. Very poor customer service there. Deptford was also really bad. I had a positive experience at the Allentown, PA store.

Weekends are a terrible time at DB. Try to go during the week.

I had a great experience at my DB. My consultant was always very helpful, manager really friendly and attentive every time I went in, ladies in the alterations department did a great job. Fortunately, I had the flexibility to go in on weekdays, however, there were still quite a few customers there and I still got great service.
