David's Bridal Dress NIGHTMARE

Sekasorto, on November 29, 2010 at 12:26 PM Posted in Planning 0 12

Ok so I am posting this after much time to calm down and after they have agreed to the free gown preservation to help make up for this even though it does not really. I picked up my dress the day before the wedding. I took the dress to the venue where it stayed sealed in the bag until one hour before the wedding when it was time to put it on. When I opened the garment bag....there were two large ellow spots under the left arm!!!!! If you buy a dress from David's be sure to check it really well before taking it out of the store after final cleaning!! I was so upset when I saw it.

That sucks. You didn't notice the stains before you purchased it or took it in for the cleaning? Those are from previous wear for sure- trying on and such.

While it sucks- you bought the dress as is. If you didn't do an inspection- that is a risk you run buying off the rack. But that's still pretty crappy of them- you'd think they'd be able to get that out with their cleaning.

Oh my gosh, I had a similar experience with David's Bridal. I brought my dress in for the final clean and press (didn't really need the clean, just needed the pressing) and it was in good shape when I left it. When I went to pick my dress up I did a really good look at it because I have heard horror stories - well the train had black spots all over it. They said I brought it in that way, but I had not at all brought it in like that. I actually hae pictures taken of me in it the morning I took it in and there were no spots. I threw such a fit and since FH is a lawyer they ended up ordering me a new dress. I pick it up next Friday before heading down to FL for our wedding. I am hoping no major alterations need to be made.

I am so sorry to hear you went through that. David's Bridal has some serious customer service issues.

Meghan....the stains were not there when I bought it or when I took it in to be cleaned. They looked like oil stains.

One of my bridesmaid dresses from DB had black spots on it. It was under the tulle on top so not very noticeable and they didn't have anymore in her size so when she brought it up several times they tried to clean it and they couldn't she got a discount

I think that I may have to ask them for a discount on the dress that I had been looking at from them for my holiday party. It is a gorgeous black formal....hopefully they won't get stains on it....but it is just a matter of if they have it or can get it right away. The party is in less than 2 weeks.

Ok so they called me back last night and they are going to do the wedding gown preservation for free, which is nice because after the honeymoon and wedding we are tapped. I still will not recommend them to any brides I know, but this does soften the blow of them ruining my dress a little.

That really sucks! Are they going to be able to get those stains out at all before they preserve it?
