David Tutera Dresses

FutureMrsChang, on November 7, 2014 at 9:55 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 32

Does anyone know how much David Tuteras Mon Cheri line starts at? Also, if anyone purchased one, tried one on, or is planning on buying one can you please post a pic Smiley smile

Im bored and starting the dreaded dress shopping (deciding what styles and designers I like) so I know where I can make appts. at. Im also making a little folder of clippings of dresses! So, just in case I LOVE a dress I can't afford I can maybe find something that is similar in my price point. Yup this is what I am doing on my Friday night!

Also, for fun who is your favorite designer?

I don't have one yet Smiley sad but Im sure after a few trips of dress shopping I will!

I think his start out around $1,000. I'm not sure, sorry, but I have been looking at those too. David is like my wedding god. He is brilliant just brilliant. Can't go wrong with a tutera dress! ( I sound like a kid at a candy store! Lame I know lol)

Maggie Sottero is my favorite designer by far. All of her dresses made me look amazing and are very fairly priced. My dress is a Maggie. I'm not sure about David Tutera...I'm not a huge fan of his. My biggest piece of advice with dress shopping, is to wait until the LAST season of dresses before your wedding come out. So if you're getting married in the Spring of 2016, wait for the Fall 2015 dresses to come out before you pick. Dress regret is a huge thing on here....I had it.

Oh I forgot to add that if David is out of price range my next choices would definitely be an Alfred Angelo or a Maggie Sottero. They have some beautiful dresses.

Thank you for the advice!! I love Maggie Sottero too. I have my eye on a Maggie, but I been told it looks more like a cocktail dress grrr... I'll post a pic.. Plus I think it only retails for a little over $700! Can you girls tell me if you think it looks more like a cocktail dress than a bridal gown? Im getting married in fall and out here in california it's still hot in September/early October, but it does cool down at night (not much, but like 65ish) and I don't want a big heavy dress to have to lug around... So here is one that I will try on for sure. It comes in ivory as well, but Im liking the blush- my colors are blush, cremes, ivories... pretty neutral...

I tried that one on! Let me see if I can find a pic of me in it...I know I had it somewhere. It was beautiful The only reason why I hesitated on it was because I wasn't a fan of rouching and the store didn't have it in blush...and I just couldn't picture it in blush.

Okay found them...the dress I tried on was in white.

OMG we like the same style dresses! It looks so different in white!!! I love it! I want to try it on (I will still want blush though hopefully I can find a blush sample)!! I hope they have a smaller sample size wherever I find it so I can get a better feel! You're tiny like me so I don't know about you but I would find it hard to imagine the dress in my size if I had to try on a size that didn't fit me!

My dress is a David Tutera and the other dress I was considering was also a David Tutera... but I wanted a ball gown. I loved the lace detailing of both dresses. The satin ball gown was $1400 and the lace one was $2025 I think. I didn't really shop by designer though, I just told the consultant what I liked/wanted and they brought me dresses to try on.

The first one is the satin ball gown which I ended up getting.

The second is the lace ball gown which was my other top contender.

@M&M you're dress is gorgeous!!! I wonder if I could pull off a ball gown! I would love a ball gown with a skirt of tulle! Lol. That would probably we heavier than I can handle although I love the look Smiley smile

Yeah that one was Spring 2014...and the sample was like 4 sizes too big on me, which is why the bust looks HUGE...and I'm clipped into it. It's hard to picture gowns when they are that much bigger on you, but it was a small shop that only carried one size in each dress, so they needed samples that fit larger sizes as well. When I got my actual dress, I found it in a shop that had a sample size 8, so I knew what it would look like on me right away.

Also...the lace details in that particular dress get washed out pretty easily on camera, so consider that as well. They might stand out better in blush though.

I can back up Ashley's statement for RK bridal. I went in there and they have a huge selection of dresses. Ordering online is definitely easier than actually going in there!

My dress is from Allure Couture so Id have to say that's me favorite designer!

Out here in Colorado I couldn't find a store that carried David Tutera so the one I found online that I was dying to try on I couldn't find and I only found a couple of Maggie Sottero dresses. Luckily I found one Maggie that I loved and was able to purchase for $1,195.00. We just don't have the designer dresses here or at least not the selection I would have liked. Good luck I hope you find a dress you love.

    Thank you ladies!!!

Kirsten- yeah I noticed that. I'll only get it if I try on a blush size to see how it photographs! Thanks for that tip!!

To help locate a store with the Maggie dress, try checking the "Store Locator" section of the Maggie Sottero website:

    http://www.maggiesottero.com/collection.aspx

The Spring 2015 dresses are now also on the site and, as usual, there are some stunners.

I almost bought a David Tutera bridal gown, before I found my beauty Hayley Paige Lana gown!!! I beleive it was called Wyomia from Mon Cheri. It came in blush, and it was the first dress that we cried at. I wish I had a pic of it, but they wouldn't allow photos. I think I would have bought this dress, if I never found Lana by Hayley Paige!! Hayley Paige definately has MUCH more unqiue gowns if that is what you are looking for. Also she has a whole entire Blush collection! BTW the picture of the gown you like, I think is beautiful!!! Definately think it would make a GREAT bridal gown. Smiley smile

My daughter will be wearing a David Tutera Grantham dress! We got it at a trunk show, so it was 10% off.

On WW click on dresses, than on wedding gowns, it will show a bunch of designers when you click on David T, it will have a button on the side saying "find a store near you"

    https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-photos/dresses/david-tutera-for-mon-cheri/i/b52c11cc61c3a17e-029ccb40745cedba

    I bought a pronovias.

Honestly, I wasn't about one designer, I was about finding a dress that suited me.

A lot of people on here are obsessed with Maggie, and I don't really find anything special in those gowns. with that being said, most designers seem to have very similar dresses.
