Dark lipstick or more natural look for winter wedding?

Erin, on July 17, 2018 at 3:33 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 20

natural
Hi, y'all! I'm trying to decide how to do my makeup for my December wedding--can't decide on what to do with my lipstick.

I have pretty dramatic coloring (pale skin, but very dark eyes and dark hair), so I look good in a bold burgundy lip. Burgundy is my favorite color and it's also one of my wedding colors. I think it would look so pretty against a snowy forest, and it would definitely stand out in photos.However--I know that my fiance prefers a more natural makeup look. Dark lipstick can look intimidating. And a more natural-colored lipstick means I'll have to do less maintenance in terms of keeping it neat (i.e. not getting on my teeth, or getting it on his face when I kiss him at the altar) than I would with dark lipstick. Do I really want to risk it, or would it be easier just to look a little more like my everyday self?

Or--option three is in between the two.

What should I do?

Hey, Erin! Welcome to WeddingWire and congrats! Smiley ring

I'm a huge fan of the bold lip and you're totally right, it looks great on you! I would totally go for the burgundy lip. Yes, it can be intimidating, but it's not like he's going to run away from the altar! Smiley xd

Just my two cents! You can look like your everyday self...every day. This is your wedding day! Do whatever makes you feel most beautiful! And maybe keep a makeup remover wipe handy for his face after your kiss Smiley winking

I would do darker just because winter calls for warm and rich colors. I, however, wouldnt go as dark as the last picture you posted.

I love the medium lip as well.

I LOVE a statement lip -- but just remember its a trend that comes and goes, so it could possibly make your photos look dated at some point down the road.

Plus - you want to be ready for the big smooch at the end!

Typically, I'd say natural because I am more of a dramatic eye person over dramatic lips, but I think the dark looks pretty on you!

Agree with PP's. You can rock the natural lip any day, but this is your WEDDING DAY and you look incredible in a dark lip! I would go for the burgundy!

Burgundy, Burgandy, and Burgandy. That is my absolute favorite color to wear in the winter. I would just do a natural eye so it wouldn’t be so bold. I absolutely love Burgandy at weddings.

I say burgundy! Burgundy was also one of my colors for my Christmas wedding and I went with burgundy lips and nails. Also, my MUA was able to use a lipstick that stayed all day and night and didn't come off on my DH when we kissed. Perhaps your MUA can use a similar lipstick on you?
