Dark linens too dark for venue?

Michelle, on February 28, 2020 at 4:11 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

Earlier I asked for advice on table cloth linens. My colors are navy, burgundy, gold and blush. I decided on ivory but then I saw a photo of my venue today with navy. I think I might like the navy better because it gives more color. Do you think having ivory table cloths will make the place too bare or is the navy too dark for the room?
Top pics are inspirations. Bottom photo is the venue.

I think it’s a little of both I love the navy I think it add color and dark looks very elegant. I think that it does look a little dark? Have you thought about navy cloths with a gold or ivory overlay of table runner? That might brighten it up a bit. Either way it looks pretty. I don’t think anyone will care it if looks dark or not.

It costs extra money lol. I'm trying to find out how much...but I don't know if I want to pay a lot of money for a table runner.

I love the navy, but I’m not sure I love it with the color of the carpet. What if you did ivory table cloths with navy napkins? That is what we did to add color and it looked really nice. We also did gold flatware which added another element of color to the table.

If you do a lighter color centerpiece or napkins that would work also. Everything always is too much money extra I’m dealing with that too.

Lol my wedding coordinator could tell i couldn’t choose so I guess we will be doing a linen show visit? Not sure what it entails yet but so far I’m leaning toward keeping it ivory. Table runners are like $5 (total $75), so I don’t think it’s worth the money. Everyone is making good points.

That’s my initial decision. I think I’ll add gold chargers from the dollar store which look pretty nice actually, I can resell it after I’m done to recoup cost.

You may be able to buy a roll of material from a fabric store and cute your own runners for less than that. Could potentially resale them also

I love the blue but do see as PP said it’s a little off with the carpet.

Traditionally speaking light linens are for daytime and dark linens are for night time so if your wedding is past 4 o’clock per se you are safe to use dark linens when you use them during the day it looks out of place and like you’re trying to make something feel more upscale than a casual morning or afternoon wedding.
