Dark colors in the summer?

Anna R, on June 20, 2019 at 7:14 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21
I’m planning my wedding for August 2020 and I’m so indecisive about my wedding colors. I’ve never been someone who loves bright colors so I’m toying with the idea of navy dresses in the summer with lighter flowers. Anyone do the same? Thoughts? Pics welcomed!

I attended a wedding in May and the colors were navy and yellow. The bridesmaids wore navy dresses and held yellow sunflowers. The yellow accent definitely helped brighten up the decor so it felt appropriate for warm weather.

I don’t think seasons matter for colors with ONE exception: if your wedding is long and outside and they’d be standing out in direct sunlight, I’d avoid navy/black. If they won’t be spending long periods of time standing in the sun, no sweat. Sounds beautiful!

I had a June wedding with burgundy dresses. You can pick whatever you like

I think it'd work beautifully! I have an August wedding and our colors are burgundy, navy, and silver

I had a similar issue... and finally decided I didn't care and to do what I liked.

Im opposite though, I love the fall but also bright colors.

Were getting married in October and our 'primary'color (Guys ties, girls dresses) are hunter green but otherwise, nothing else is colored 'appropriately' for a fall wedding. Everything else is bright colors or pastels. These are my bouquets, for example.

We’re doing forest green and navy blue in early August! Those are my favorite colors so I’m using them! My mom took some convincing, but we found gorgeous dark green dresses (DB color Juniper) and most of our decorations are navy blue. I can’t wait!

That's a good idea! I think having an accent color that's lighter would definitely make it more summer and brighten your palette up but having a main color that's dark is ok

You’re right! Love those colors! I feel like I’m more concerned about what “others will think” but who cares?! It’s my wedding!

My bridesmaids are doing navy dresses with yellow flowers for my upcoming August wedding! Navy isn’t incorporated into the color scheme anywhere else, but I didn’t think bridesmaids necessarily had to match. I think it’s going to look great!

I'm so glad I found this discussion. I have been feeling pressured slightly by basically everyone to pick a lighter shade/color to fit the "wine" color I have in my head. Your girls look beautiful in this picture!! Where did you get the dresses?

I think you should go with whatever colors like no matter the season. Our wedding is in the winter, and I am doing spring colors, because I love pastels Smiley smile

Go with what makes you happy Smiley smile
