Dark brown bridesmaid dress with silver/clear shoes???

Nancy, on January 10, 2013 at 9:50 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Ok, so almost all of my bridesmaids have gotten their dresses. The dresses are a chiffon truffle (more like a dark brown) dress. A couple of my BM called and asked about shoes, and I mentioned that I was unsure. However, none of the BM want gold shoes or anything close to that color. I don't blame them because I hate gold and would not want to wear anything in that color. So I was thinking, would silver shoes be okay with this dress??

What about Nude or Ivory shoes?

What colour are you using for Jewellry and other parts of your wedding? If the answer is silver, then go for silver shoes. If it's not, then the silver might clash a bit.

Are your dresses long or short? If they are long, will you really be able to see the shoes? If not, would you be open to saying "any light colored shoes"? Just a thought...

I have a girl wearing truffle also. I think I am going to have her wear silver shoes.

My wedding is really all fall colors. There is a sash that comes with the dress and I saw the most beautiful clip at DB yesterday that would go perfect with it, but its silver.

But the dress is long, but if I do silver shoes, the jewelry would have to be silver as well.

Silver! Don't do clear. IMO clear shoes will either end up looking too vampy/stripperish(the platform kind), or your feet fog them up and you can see your toes all squished in there and it's not very pretty(tried some Cinderellaish ones on, and it was not everything it was supposed to be).

If it is fall colors, why not have them wear red shoes?

I think ivory is a good color. I also like nude.

Im not sure if Navy is a "fall" color but I think that dark brown and navy would go well together.

Here is the link to the dress:

Since there is a sash that goes along with the dress, I did purchase a clip to hold the sash in the back and it is silver Smiley sad for alll the BM's.

I don't know whether to return them or not, but it did look fine with the truffle color of the dress.

    Kind of unsure about this.

You know what? I would totally go burnt orange shoes, but I don't think that's fair to make them buy shoes they wouldn't wear again. I would honestly just say ivory or dark brown or maybe even a dark red/burgandy... you have a lot to play with for colors to be honest... black would even be okay. I cousin got married this last October and her girls wore black cowboy boots, because she was having a country wedding... the black looked great! they were shorter dresses.

    @Stephanie H

Since the dress is already dark brown and then add on dark shoes,

I would think they would look like a big standing thing of..excuse me.. poop :\

Nooo dont do silver. That would not look good. Even if there is silver on a clip they are wearing. They should do gold, nude or black. They are wearing a long dress so it shouldnt be seen that much. It wont look like it is too dark. If that was a concern, you shouldnt have picked a dark color. A shoe covers very little.

No no no no way do silver! The only color that would go ok with this color without standing out would be nude. A color shoe with this dress would stand out way to much and look cheap. And black definately doesnt go with that shade of brown.

Those are my BM dresses too. But we are doing champagne and I found the shoes to match at Alfred Angelo.

I would do a dark brown shoe, and have them dyed to match the dress. You have the flowers and accessories to accent.
