I'm cutting dairy out of my diet, which seems to be a huge source of problems for me. Problem: because I'm removing it from my diet it's all I want anyone have any good not yucky tasting dairy substitutes they recommend.

Try a little bit of nutritional yeast before going all out. I didn't realize I was sensitive to it until I made a batch of "nachos" with it.....sooooo tasty but then I swear I puked up my toes later. Smiley sad

I used to eat/drink a LOT of dairy and what helped me cut out most is just avoid anything that would have it in it - and not even give a substitute to milk.

I rarely eat ice cream, so that was easy. I started drinking hot tea more rather than coffee (so that I wouldn't be tempted by cream), and I just stopped buying cheese and used alternatives (i.e. more vegetables and herbs in my omelettes, salsa on my potatoes, etc.).

I do have dairy now, but with the exception of cream in my morning coffee, I have it MAYBE once or twice a week instead of 3-4 servings a day. I rarely crave milk anymore (and I used to looooove milk), but I still have a longing for cheese that I try to get over. Besides coffee cream, the big dairy that I'll still have is plain greek yogurt that I'll either mix fruit in or use in a Mediterranean dish.

I enjoy cashew milk and rice milk. If you can take the time to make milk substitutes at home, they usually taste a bit better.

Almond milk and cashew milk are amazing substitutes! I actually prefer cashew milk to dairy milk.

Coconut milk! Almond milk! Coconut flavored almond milk !

(Banana ice cream. Freeze sliced banana, put it in food processor. You get creamy consistency- bananas must be ripe)

Okay so I am back! Sorry it was a loooong work day!

Someone mentioned Veggie Cheese, its still have milk bi-products in it so be careful there.

Coconut milk, Almond milk and Cashew Nut milk all good choices, I buy them from Trader Joes, there is less sugar and no carrageenan (seaweed) in them. I avoid all fake cheese, its got a lot of crap in it thats just not good for you. If you are just looking to cut out cows milk dairy, then goats or sheeps milk/cheese's are REALLY awesome. If not then you can get calcium from things such as broccoli. Someone mentioned Kite Hill yogurts. Yummy. The Ben n Jerry's almond milk ice cream is really good and they just announced 3 new flavors which I am excited to try. Starbucks is not great about cross contamination so while they have almond and coconut milk, be careful. Also like other's have said the latte's do have dairy in the mixes (bye-bye PSL)

http://www.godairyfree.org/ is an AWESOME resource and she posts tons of great recipes to try. Good luck!

Make sure to read the labels, because a lot of non-dairy milks have tons of added sweetener. My favorite is Califa Farms toasted coconut almond milk! It's so tasty.

Great for you! I cut out dairy about 7 years ago and have since been transitioning to Paleo (I am about 90% there) over the past year or so. Some of my favorite substitutes:

    -Coconut Milk

    -Coconut Yogurt

    -Almond Milk

    -SoDelicious Coconut Ice Cream

    -Cashew Milk

Ripple milk tastes pretty close to real milk. It's made from pea protein, I believe. They sell it at Target.

Try the almond coconut milk blend by Almond Breeze (refrigerated). That's how I began cutting it out! I love it now. Smiley smile
