I'm cutting dairy out of my diet, which seems to be a huge source of problems for me. Problem: because I'm removing it from my diet it's all I want anyone have any good not yucky tasting dairy substitutes they recommend.

Here are some satisfying breakfast ideas that may help you get passed the cravings. They are also grain free which can't hurt, but seriously yummy looking and obviously can be tweaked to your liking.

Almond milk is the best substitute I've found. I get the vanilla flavored and it doesn't taste like almonds to me.

There are a few dairy free ice-cream options too. By me it just depends what store I'm at for the selection they have. Ben and Jerry's is the best I've tried so far.

I've also try to "limit" my dairy...giving it up is extremely difficult with my love for cheese as a Wisconsinite. I switched to Fair Life milk and although it is expensive it helps a lot. I don't know much about Almond Milk, but Fair Life comes in skim and has 80 calories/serving. I gave in to a grilled cheese at work last night and feel terrible now. Ah man, I love cheesy melty things so much. ETA: Fair Life is lactose free milk and I personally think it tastes just like milk.

Cashew Milk ice cream is to die for, it is creamy like real ice cream. Daiya shredded mozzarella cheese, it has a Parmesan texture and it's great on tacos, chili, etc. Daiya also makes dairy free, gluten free pizzas that are incredible! Hampton Creek "just ranch" and "just mayo". The closest to the real deal you'll get. I'm allergic to dairy, so I'm always looking for good alternatives. Good luck!

Vegan here. I love blue diamond almond breeze almond milk, so delicious almond milk ice cream. Not fond of any vegan cheese though many vegans love Chao. Just Mayo is great. Things are hit and miss by taste.

I love almond milk and coconut milk. You can get anything in either or, whether it be yogurt, coffee creamer, milk, etc.

Almond milk all the way! just watch out for the added sugar, some of them can have a lot! I have also sampled all of the Ben and Jerrys almond milk varieties and I can tell you though they are all good, chocolate fudge brownie takes the cake.

OP, have you tried lactaid? I have no discomfort when I take that before eating dairy, even though I try to generally avoid it.

If you think dairy/lactose is giving you issues, talk to your doctor. That was key for me when I discovered I had an actual allergy so I could make sure I was still getting enough calcium and such.

I'm allergic to almonds so I can't say anything for almond milk, but I've had soy milk and it's not bad.

I don't eat any dairy or gluten products. I have found some amazing dairy substitutes. Lactose free milk, Silk dairy-free vanilla yogurt, cashew nut ice cream (it's amazing!). There are some weird cheeses out there that are an acquired taste. After a while everything begins to taste normal. Lol

It's not the end of the world, girl!

Lactose intolerant here! I personally prefer lactose free milk, Lactaid and Friendly Farms are my preferred brands. Aside from that, cashew and soy milk are my next usual choices, almond milk I've had but it's not my favorite lol.

Following this post. I have been thinking about trying to conquer the dairy free life to see if it solves my occasional stomach issues and never ending breakouts. These suggestions are so helpful!

Coconut milk is soo yummy on cereal and oatmeal! I prefer lactose free milk for drinking because soy milk makes me really sick to my stomach. All hard cheeses like parmesean and sharp cheddar are around 99% lactose free as well. ETA I noticed that lactose free milk can be sweeter, so it may take some getting used to depending on what brand you buy (lactaid is a touch sweet for my taste, I prefer Darigold 1% lactose free)

A word of caution: a friend of mine is dairy free, and she learned that while Starbucks offers non-dairy milks, some of their mixes (hot chocolate and Chai tea, I think) DO have dairy in them. Check and double check ingredients!

On what @Runawaybride said, I've also had numerous experiences with places like Starbucks forgetting to not put whip cream on my drinks or not using the almond milk. For some reason, if what I'm drinking is a Frappuccino then if they don't use almond milk it doesn't do too much to me but the whip cream without fail makes me feel like I'm dying lol. I get really annoyed with people when I say no whip cream, the cup says no whip cream, but they do it anyway. Check and double check! They don't always remember to use almond milk instead either (not just Starbucks, but at Dunkin and McCafé I've had these experiences too).
