Dad and Step-Mom gift Advice Needed

Toni, on June 4, 2012 at 11:13 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3

My dad and step mom have not helped me in any way with my wedding. When I told my dad that I was engaged, he was happy and later told me that unfortunately he would not be able to help me financially. My FH and I have paid for most of the wedding ourselves with some help from my mom, step-dad and his mom. I never asked for help but they offered it anyway. Should I buy my dad and step mom a gift??? Isn’t this to thank them for the help?? They haven’t even helped with anything free, like their time....I'm having a hard time with this. Advice please!!!

Eh, im in the same boat. I'm just going to get a card and write a very nice note. I have understood from day 1 that my father couldnt contribute but I have been very dissapointed at his lack of offerring time to help me do anything.

    Give the gifts in private.............

Hmmm that's a tough one.....Even though I havent really started planning yet I know it's gonna be this same exact way with my dad and step mom to. I personally wouldn't get them a gift but don't give everyone else there gift right in front of everyone else who IS getting a gift, that might hurt there feelings

Thank you! I really like the card idea and not giving the other gifts in front of them. Good advice!
