CZ engagement ring

Tanisha, on September 6, 2012 at 6:35 PM Posted in Planning 0 34

My friend got engaged. Yay! She got a beautiful cz engagement ring. Well now she is having 2nd thoughts because she says it's not real and she's afraid of what others would think. I told her she could have any ring she wanted. Who cares what other ppl think?! I told her mine ring was pink and white sapphire! And then I asked why did you get it then? Because she liked it. And I don't get how ppl think cz's are fake...it's cz stone, not a diamond. So what do you ladies think about cz rings? I don't get it. That's why chose a colored stone.

Hmmmm.....let's see. I don't know much about CZ's but what i do know is I wouldn't give a flying f*** what other people think and neither should she.

who's gonna know anyway unless she is one of those girls that doesn't except a compliment. like if someone says ..."oh what a beautiful ring" will she reply...thanks but it's CZ?

I've seen some gorgeous CZ rings! As long as she loves it that's all that matters.

Eh, other than something about diamonds being an investment that has the potential to be hawked for more money someday if your descendants need it, they're not really that big a deal. Mine's all diamonds, but that was just because having never dreamed of a wedding and whatnot it never occured to me that I get a different colored stone. Wish I had an aquamarine. Honestly unless she tells people or someone carries one of those gem looking glass things no one will know the difference, and only rude people ask. Only one person has asked me the total carat weight of my ring and how much it cost, and she is a rude one.

I know over the years they have gotten better with the Cz's they used to cloud up. My personal thought is if you like a ring , who cares what others think.

Unless she tells people its CZ most people wont be able to tell unless they are jeweler or something.

I would say no worries unless some one says boo to her dont even mention it.

The only thing I don't like about them is that they always seem so big and gauty. I've seen some gorgeous ones. I wanted a colored stone because I just wanted something different. Hey whatever you like wear it! I don't think she would go around telling ppl. And why would someone ask that? Very rude! Just like Mossiante looks like diamonds and they cost just as much! Just wondering what ppl thought about them. I know yrs ago that was a complete NO NO! It's alil different today.

My ring has a heart shaped ruby in the middle with 3 white sapphires on each side. It's not even an engagement ring. It was a set (matching necklace and earrings) you could buy for a valentines day (which FH proposed on in 2011) we already went band shopping and my band had diamonds. I don't care what anyone thinks/thought. It's what I like and what I wanted. My moms wedding ring set was CZ too and her husbands bad is only $10. Who cares. Marriage is NOT about the ring it's about who you marry!!

Current CZs are 'D' in color...and unless you really are into diamonds, most won't realize what they are looking at isn't a real diamond. If your friends loves it, that's all that matters.

I have also seen some great looking CZs. I got hooked a few years ago on moissanite which is another lab created stone. Absolutely beautiful and it is doubly refractive whereas a diamond is singly refracted, so the moissanite has twice the sparkle.

IMHO, if she loves the ring she shouldn't worry about what anyone else will think. I certainly wouldn't!

CZs are awesome -- i used to have quite a few rings before our townhouse got broken into back in 2010 (lost my class ring, all my costume jewelry, bracelets and necklaces i've had since middle school). if she likes it, who cares what other people think?? there are plenty of rings that look GREAT now. there's a site i was actually looking at -- they have hybrid diamonds (carbon + other minerals as opposed to just carbon) that are also great looking too! i was considering getting one but FH was adamant on getting a real diamond. either way i wouldn't have cared -- it's the meaning and intent behind the ring, not the ring itself Smiley smile

My FH and I picked out my set. I fell in love with a CZ and I could careless what anyone thinks. We even got it from Walmart. He wanted me to be happy with my ring so we got the CZ. Here is a picture of mine and his.

As long as the band is gold or something that will not break or change color, I don't see a problem. Besides, if they want to on their 10 year anniversary she can change it out for a diamond.

I wouldn't want a CZ ring. \ If it were a financial issue, I would be happy with a plain gold band, like the wedding band I have on now. No engagement ring needed.

I also wouldn't care what other people thought if I didn't care.

I love collecting gemstones, and a diamond is a very nice gemstone.

We didn't have engagement rings at all, and had plain gold bands for our wedding rings. But if she likes the look of a CZ, why does anyone else's opinion matter?

As for the argument that diamonds are an investment, they aren't. If you go to sell a diamond, at most you'll get only about half of its nominal value. So it would have to more than double in value before you'd get back more than you paid for it. It's extremely unlikely that you'd ever get back more than you would have received if you'd taken the price of the ring and put it into a savings account.

Who cares! CZ/diamond/sapphire? It's what makes us different, unique individuals. We aren't made from the same mold, and our rings shouldn't be either!

I always wanted a diamond solitaire ring and I'm glad I have one. I wanted a band with diamonds and sapphires for my wedding band, but they didn't make one quite delicate enough to match my engagement band (which is small and wonderful).

Your friend should be proud that she has a ring she loves, but even more proud that she has a fiance she loves!

Mine is a CZ...It looks a little too shiny in the pic but in person you can't tell the difference and honestly, if I wanted an expensive ring, I'd make it my actual wedding band.

My sister got a beautiful CZ, andit's one of the prettiest rings I've ever seen. Mine is a giant blue star sapphire, and I couldn't be happier with it. It's really special to me and more so because not everyone has one.

Diamonds CAN be an investment...the colored diamonds (Pink, yellow, blue, green) are certainly investment worthy if you can afford them proven by prices the last few years.

I certainly didn't get FW one thinking I'd make money at some point but I do hope that it'll become a family heirloom and passed on. That can be said with any ring...it's the sentimental value that matters most.
