Cupcakes as wedding favours?

Natalie, on April 13, 2017 at 9:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 21

Thinking about doing cupcakes as favours on the tables. Is this too childish/children's birthday partyish though? We are serving our wedding cake as dessert too, so wondering if this is too much cake?

Edible is the way to go for favors.

Cupcakes are always a good idea.

I don't think it's childish. Just be careful with the way you present it.

I'd say do them in little to go boxes so people can take them home. They may not want cake right then, but who doesn't want cake later?

The last wedding I went to the favors were cupcakes in mason jars. I totally appreciated having a snack in the hotel room in the middle of the night.

I think it's a great idea. At my cousin's wedding they had to-go boxes set up at the dessert table so guests could take donuts (that's what they had) with them. It was a great thing and I ended up eating all mine on the drive home.

We are doing cupcakes instead of cakes and will have boxes for people to take some home in as a favor. We just got the cute square boxes at Sams Club!

I would say edible favors are the best way to go according to what I've heard. If you were worried about "too much cake" you could do something else like cookies or chocolates. I'm thinking I'll make decorated cookies with each guests name on them so they can double as place cards. (I'm a baker/cake decorator so I am confident in my decorating abilities).

But I don't think cupcakes sounds too childish or birthday party. Besides, you could easily dress up a cupcake to look more sophisticated if you wanted. Either way, people will appreciate anything they can munch on after a night of drinking and dancing. Lol.

In the useless and wasteful world of favors, edible is the way to go! Most people like cupcakes so they are unlikely to be left behind. I think this could be a hit in prepackaged boxes with a string indicating your names and wedding date. This would make it more fancy and favor-ish rather than "children's party" as you fear.

For my sister-in-law's baby shower: last spring I did cupcake as the favors and got little containers off Amazon along with stickers off of Etsy.

Chocolate and vanilla. Nothing crazy because some people may not like some flavors.

    They were a hit

I'm having a small cake to cut and serve and also doing cupcakes so we can have more flavors and a cookie table. We are having to go boxes so they can take whatever they want with them as the favors.
