For those of you who have done (or are doing) cupcakes...what is the average amount per person? One cake per person or more? Any brides who have already done this I'd love your advice and for those planning with me, what are you doing? Thanks ladies!! If it helps, I'm only using 2 flavors and they...

If it helps, I'm only using 2 flavors and they are normal size cupcakes, not mini.

My baker explained to me that with with normal size cupcakes you don't even need one per person because some people won't eat any and that will make up for the people that eat two. For mini cupcakes, she stated that it's normal to plan for 2.5 mini cupcakes per guest. We're doing a mix of regular size and mini cupcakes. My baker suggested that you should always round down so since we are planning for 80 people, she went with her typical numbers for 75 people. We are getting 3 dozen regular size cupcakes and 9 dozen mini cupcakes, plus our small cake to cut.

We are doing cupcakes as well and our baker told us 1.5 per person. We may just go with one per person though because I was just at a wedding in August that had sooo many left over. I don't feel like people will take more than one since they are full sized cupcakes.

If you are having 2 flavors, I would count on 2 for each person. Cause there's no such thing as half a cupcake. We are having 6 different kinds of cake and only 50 people. 3 flavors in the cake and 3 in cupcakes. We are doing a cake that serves 50 and a dozen each of the other flavors.

We're doing about 1.25/person depending on our final count. That means even if everyone has one cupcake, 25% of the people will still have a chance to get two.

I'm actually going to be making 3 different desserts for my wedding. I'll be making muffin sized cupcakes so 1 per guest so it'd be like 2 regular sized ones. Then just a cutting cake for pictures

If it's a display, I think one to two per person is fine. Some people won't take one, and then people like me will share (I want to try everything, so I usually take a couple bites then make FH finish the rest...).

@ Kimi, We are also doing them as favors and are doing one per person. They will be pre boxed. I plan to have 5-10 extra. People keep saying favors get left behind, so I'm hesitant to do more than that.

Eta: if we were doing them for dessert though, I would have at least two per person if it's the only dessert.

We are doing 1.5 per person the lady who is making them said it works best this way.

They are oversized so typically people share.

I'm doing cupcakes for my wedding as well, so this will be really helpful! I feel any wedding I've gone to there are always so many left overs and I don't want to be stuck with lots of cupcakes lol

I'm leaning towards 1-1.5 per person. Obviously we have a ways before the wedding, but it helps to have an idea of cost for the budget.

@OP, so far, we're opting for normal sized cupcakes as well. I'm not sure about flavors. I'd like to have a variety to choose from, but I almost feel like anything outside of the standard yellow/chocolate means you need to up the per-person count so everyone can try the others. You raise some great questions!

We had 100 guests and we did 100 regular cupcakes and then a rose ball of mini ones(not actually sure how many were in there) plus a huge candy bar. We ended up with lots of leftovers

We are accounting for 2 per person since we will have 3 different flavors and they are kind of small.

I'm doing cupcakes. We're going to have 40-50 guests with 48 cupcakes with 6 inch topper. And a grooms cake.
