Cruise Wedding at port on the Beach in Montego Bay

Kimberly, on January 22, 2012 at 1:13 AM Posted in Planning 0 6

Has anyone had a wedding in Montego Bay from boarding a cruise ship. My understanding everything is pretty much done at the last minute like 3 weeks before time to sail. I haven't heard anything bad from the blogs but it just makes me nervous . Give me your thoughts or experiences.

One of my mother's co-workers did her's here in TX in Galveston right before the cruise and from the pics that I saw it was very pretty. They did their's on the ship though and I think the package included 11 guests. It was really pretty and looked like an actual long wedding. I think it's only like 2 hrs max.

We are planning ours for next year on a Carnival ship. But we are not planning to get married the day of embarkation because it normally is a zoo that day. We are asking our guests (which is a small party) to join us on the cruise and we are getting married on the 3rd day of the cruise in port at Half Moon Cay. The best website for cruise information is cruisecritic.com. Have you found the cruise you wanted to get married on?

We haven't booked anything for ours yet as Carnival only has their itineraries published up until April 2013 so we have a few months to wait to book. But you should jump on it as it is a first come first serve and I know that certain cruise lines book up early for weddings.

The only part of this equation that could trip you up would be if the cruise line had to skip a port due to bad weather or unrest.

We were on a cruise last year that had a scheduled stop in Bermuda. A couple who had planned to get off the ship and have their ceremony in Bermuda was out of luck because, due to high wind, the captain skipped Bermuda that day.

On another cruise, my daughter had two ports switched (Greece) because of strikes at the first port scheduled for the day they were to be in port.

I hope it works out for you, but have a back up plan just in case.

    Hi there,

We do cruise ship weddings regularly.

I'm not sure what you mean about everything being done last minute, but the

wedding licence will be obtained well before you arrive in Jamaica (we obtain

licences for our clients 6 weeks before the wedding).

Every venue differs, but when we do a cruise ship wedding *everything* is prepared and planned in advance. On the day, we collect the client

from the cruise terminal, transport them to our venue, allow the bride and groom

to get ready in the onsite dressing rooms whilst their guests tour our grounds and relax. Our clients then have a full ceremony, golf cart tour photographic tour (for beach and waterfall photographs) and full reception before we transport them back to the cruise ship.

It's a great way to experience the best of Jamaica!

Congratulations and best of luck Smiley smile
